Just for curiosity's sake, as a box office nerd I'll contribute the top 5 of all time adjusted for inflation:
1. Gone with the Wind
2. Star Wars (1977)
3. The Sound of Music
4. ET
5. Titanic

Hmm, thought there would be some more Tarantino love. Pulp Fiction is on a few lists, but expected Inglorious Basterds, Reservior Dogs, and possibly True Romance to be on some lists.

The Dark Knight
Apparently, I like depressing movies.

Hmm…while it's genuinely a very good movie, I can't even put it in my top 20.

I can't possibly make a list of 5, let alone put them in order. Here is a list of some of my favorite movies with some recent additions:
The Matrix
Shawshank Redemption
Rush
Inception
The Dark Night
The Wolf of Wall Street
Pulp Fiction
Catch Me If You Can
Bourne Supremecy (best ending to a trilogy ever)
There's so many more that I love but I'll stick with those. In all honestly I like pretty much every movie that Leonardo Dicaprio is in or Christopher Nolan or Quinten Tarantino directed.

1. Shawshank Redemption. Own the Blu-Ray, but I'll still watch it when I see it on TV.
2. The Empire Strikes Back. A childhood favourite, still love this movie.
3. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Eastwood and Wallach are amazing in this one.
4. Back to the Future. I like all of them, but the first was just such a classic right out of the gate.
5. Cool Hand Luke. Newman is great in everything.

Almost Famous was weird. Honestly I was bored the entire move but never once did I even think about turning it off or bad mouthing it and then when it ended I thought it was a great movie.
Maybe it's the music nerd in me.

In total agreement about Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, and lots of others. Here's 5 of my personal favorites that I haven't seen mentioned
Airplane!
Terminator 2
Monty Python and The Holy Grail
Forrest Gump
Die Hard
I can replay each of those movies in my mind almost scene for scene, yet whenever they're on TV I will sit down and watch
