Which is too bad really. Nashville is an incredible city, one of the best IMO and the arena is in an absolutely excellent location. Unfortunately, there are just too many people there who really don't know that much/care about hockey.

Nashville spent more than 3 Canadian teams including Calgary last year and with the new salary cap and floor every single team is a high spending team.

Everything is relative.
Calgary is rebuilding. Winnipeg and Ottawa are budget teams

Of course but just pointing out that they are spending pretty close to the cap and with the floor moving up they'll have no choice but to spend.

I thought Trotz was a great coach. Nashville was never a star filled team, and yet they out performed what I expected of them every season.

Yes but it just means other teams will be spending more. Nashville will be spending as close to the floor as possible without losing key pieces like Weber.

They're spending $37 million on 5 players and one goalie next season and with Weber being owed $52 million in the next 4 years I'm not sure how they can afford to run this team without trading a few key pieces.

just looked at capgeek and thought "where are those $37 m for 5 players, PL2? Sure can't see them!" ... only then I saw the $13 m signing bonus for Weber, had completely forgotten about that. Wow. That Holmgren offer sheet was ridiculous.

I think he'd go 'American Psycho' after 4 days.

Why do people assume that he loves 2-way players over skilled ones and defense first when he's never really had an elite forward on his roster outside of Peter Forsburg for a cup of coffee? He's simply a really good coach that knows how to play to the strength of his roster which has always been goaltending and defense for years. Guys like him will adapt and he would be a fantastic coach for the Oilers but chances are that's not going to happen as MacTavish won't admit his mistake and Trotz will have better offers.

Yeah... but that's because teams that don't already blow chunks don't usually replace coaches.

I agree.
I was not surprise of Nashville getting rid of Trotz. He's been in that organization since they joined the NHL and I am sure a lot of people and players are getting tired of him. Besides he must a good guy but these days you need results. Canucks will be stupid enough not to even consider Trotz to replace the soon-to-be fired Torterella.
I would be surprise if Torts doesn't get fired in the next few days or few weeks. The guy is an a--hol*. He is trying to be tough and never take responsibility for his action. I can't believe him blaming Bob Hartley for that Byron hit on Daniel Sedin. It is Hartley's style... wow, Hartley told the smallest..okay second smallest player in the team to hit Sedin to the board so he gets injured. What a m*r*n!!!

Wow I thought Trotz would be the Preds coach until he died. You can't really blame him this year with the injury to Rinne and the rest of the line up he was given.
This looks to be a move to help Poile save his job for a couple more years.

Why do people think they're on a decline? Franchise dman and goalie in place. Bring in a coach who will play bit more offensive game and they'll be battling for a playoff spot.

If Pittsburgh gets bounced before the conference finals I can see them firing Bylsma and going after Trotz and becoming absolutely dominant
