Was not the game I wanted to see to finish the year. Team looked pretty horrendous tonight.

So pumped about Gaudreau though, he looked just as electric out there as he did in the NCAA, and got a goal to boot! Great way for him to enter the offseason, or take that experience to Minsk for the WCs.

The veterans had checked out. Stajan, Hudler, Glencross, and Galiardi did very little out there.

Gaudreau is exciting to watch. He makes things happen nearly every shift. Can't remember a rookie since Phaneuf who was so compelling to watch.

Backlund and Brodie are so important to the Flames. Both guys carry the puck so well.

Pretty fun season. Can't wait for next year!

Johnny looked good. Looked real good. Got pushed around a bit here and there, but also was able to dance around most checks. His sequence making burrows look silly behind the net was nice.

Definitely had some jitters and some rookie mistakes, but man this guy oozes potential.

Did we miss Brodie on the back end or what? Need some quality D in the system. Hope we pick up a couple prospects this summer.

One of the worst team games all season, but didn't really matter, fun to see Johnny score and Arnold play well. This was a great season, went into it with no expectations and enjoyed every game. It was exciting hockey. Future is brightening for sure. Kid has sick hands.....that redirection was soft.

I think we can honestly say that gaudreau was the best player for the flames tonight. Monahan looked good too.

You can see what everyone talks about with Johnny... The speed, the hands, and the pace at which he thinks the game. The puck was on his stick and then instantly on another flames stick so quickly some of them weren't ready for it. For example... Monahan and him and a nice give and go near the end of the game where the puck got back to Monahan moving into the high slot... It was such a quick slick pass from Johnny that Monahan wasn't expecting it I think.

Well that sucked, but at least I got to see Johnny's first game and goal! I watched him the whole time, he got a bit of a rough ride by nuck players but toughed it out. Wanted a win but the 4th round pick is good constellation.

Any team that has a defence that includes Breen, Cundari, and Billings is going to struggle. Gio can only cover up so much.

Hmmm my opinion as well. Maybe I should re-evaluate or is this a broken-clock type thing for bieksa?

I'd still like to have Reinhart. Well another one.

Unfortunate and scary incident on Daniel Sedin - definitely was not malicious, but very scary nonetheless. Hope he is ok.

Johnny Hockey was way better than I thought he would be tonight. I expected a few moves here and there, some 'sparks' from him, but I didn't imagine he would look this NHL ready at all. What astounded me quite a lot was his takeaways and how he would go in the corner and come out with the puck a couple of times. Really, really impressive first game. He didn't just survive, the thrived. The goal was just icing on the cake. This kid is for real!

Arnold looked very good out there too. Very responsible and smart. I think he will end up being a pretty decent 3rd line player for Calgary. Was so composed and defensively sound, and didn't shy away from any contact at all.

I thought Breen looked decent - better than I expected. +1 in a 5-1 loss, with 16+ minutes of icetime. Looked much more steady out there than I have seen from him all season.

Was hoping for a win - would have been nice to give Gaudreau and Arnold a win for their first game of the season, and against Vancouver. Can't complain about the 4th pick though.

Seeing Gaudreau play makes me want Reinhart all the more. Two kids with sick hockey sense and incredible skill would be a treat to watch each and every game.
