Think this is a good deal for both parties. Likely gives Scrivens a chance to make real money in two years after two years of showing he is a starter. If he fails, Oilers haven't paid real money. Real issue is that need a 1A/1B setup so who is the other player?

In retrospect, it seems rather charitable to claim that the Oilers even managed a bag of pucks.

Anyway, good contract for the Oilers. Scrivens hasn't yet shown he is anything better than "NHL Goalie", but this is the same place they were in with Dubnyk not long ago, except that they paying less for the unknown.

Looks like Bryzgalov is good as gone.

I think Kevin Lowe finally let someone do their job; hence the reason for not overpayment on Scriven. Isn't Lowe still on vacation as per Katz' request?

IIRC Lowe offered his resignation and Katz wouldn't accept it. Or I had a hilarious dream. One or the other.

Pretty sure Katz refused to let him take a leave of absence

I wonder what Enoch Root has to say about his since he was pretty adamant that this was a bad trade for Edmonton and Scrivens wouldn't re-sign here.

Dammit, can't hate on this. Little soon but I'd imagine the pressure is on for their management to retain some actual talent.

stalking me?

I think it's hilarious that they signed him after 7 games.

As a Flame fan, I am pleased because I don't think Scrivens will be the answer to their goaltending woes.

And yes, I am surprised that he signed there - I predicted that he wouldn't. Guess he just wanted a job.

Can't wait to see how it all plays out for him and the mighty Oilers.

TSN reporting it's a AAV of $2.3 million/year.
