I wanted to, I even typed something up and everything but it felt like I would be cheating on SureLoss...

Besides, when you pick someone else's thread over his he sends you threatening PMs and my legs just healed from last time.

Nothing. I doubt he was going to sign with them next year anyway.

McKenzie just tweeted that the Predators have put Dubnyk on waivers, maybe the Oilers can get him back too.

I hope Scrivens is so happy about this he takes the Oil on a 15 game win streak and they miss the playoffs by 3 points.

I guess the "bad habits" were just too much to overcome. Just goes to show why MacT has had a tough time making a big trade as teams are weary of the bad habits Oilers players have developed and how long it will take for teams to straighten out their habits. Teams don't want to give up blue chip prospects or established NHL contributors for projects.

Pretty sweet deal for them, don't see much changing in the standings next year though.

Good on them. Although Scrivens looks to have been bent over considering the other contracts the Oilers have given away. This is the contract Dubynuk should have received instead of the 3.5 AAV.

I think that this was probably a very smart move for Scrivens. He probably knows what he is capable of as a player, and watching what is likely the demise of Dubnyk's NHL career unfolding in real time was enough to provide a sober perspective: He will never post starter numbers on THIS team, but in the course of two years can probably play well enough to earn a solid UFA contract to play for a winning team. Then, who knows ... ?

I think the only "steal" in that trade was that MacTavish was able to get more than a bag of pucks out of Dallas while not having to retain any of Horcoff's salary. In most circles Larsen wasn't seen as much more than a fringe NHL'er, even on a team like the Oilers - they didn't need more small puck movers.

Way to much praise on this extension folks its not like Scrivens is a true # 1 starter and on the flip side there's not to many teams needing this guy so it was a no brainer for the guy to sign such a cheap contract.

Good. Maybe Scrivens will be good enough to keep the Greasers in the 23 to 25 spot for the next two years (no more top 5 picks for you!), then leave Siberia for a big money UFA deal.
