In the Business speech Burke gave at the Petroleum Club, he mentioned retaining salary in a trade. I would assume he has authorization to do so if he said it was on the table.

In my opinion, Cammalleri should be one of the most coveted forward rentals of the last several years.
Cammi is a playoff beast, I'd take him as a playoff rental before guys like Iginla and Jagr.
I'll be shocked in Cammi *doesnt* bring back a 1st rounder or blue-chip prospect, and if he doesn't I'd almost be inclined to extend him and keep him on board.

You and I might not value Cammi as a first rounder, but with Burke chumming the waters with talk about taking on bad salary... you can bet your bottom dollar he's going to rape out a first from one of the non-law school GM's when the deadline has them sweating and panicked.

If the trade makes sense and makes us better I don't care if we trade with the enemy. I really dig the Smid deal so far and that was just the second time we have traded with the Oilers but it made us better. Can't see us trading with the Nucks now any time soon though what with Burke + last night.

If we could get Jurco from Detroit I would lose my mind. He would be our best RW prospect immediately.

I always want to push for maximum value in trades too, but I don't see any chance that LA moves Toffolifor Cammalleri
They were unwilling to discuss him last year with the Iginla trade (or others). And he has continued to progress since then.
IMO, he is their top prospect. Would we move Gaudreau or Baertschi for a rental?

It is a silly comparison to ask fans of a rebuilding team if they would move a top prospect for a rental.
I don't see the kings moving him either unless it is part of a bigger deal where th Flames are including a prospect in the deal as well

I do not think I want him anyway, I just think he was probably told to get the surgery by his NHL team. Burke better get a monster return for Cammy given his comments on how terrible a 1st and 2 middling prospects was for our tradeable assets last deadline. Cammy for Shinkaruk would be a disappointment if Burke is held to his own standards. The pressure is definitely on considering how much more flexible the situation is for Burke than it was for Feaster.

Yep. He might of put his foot in his mouth already if he can't deliver a better package than Feaster. With all our tradeable assets injured at least once through the season or in slumps we might end up pretty disappointed this deadline.

I honestly don't see Cammys value being that great. A first from a playoff team is about what I'd expect. Maybe a little extra but not much. I think our best bet is to package Cammy with a prospect or a pick to get something of strong value. In these deals I rather land one or two solid pieces than three or four average ones. Sweeten the pot if need be but land something that will actually make a difference for us with the rebuild.

I know he's a legit reporter, but there seems to be a lot of really out there trade rumours he puts out that never pan out.

He's VERY much like Eklund. Has a few sources, but just throws everything to the wall and hopes something sticks. He's broken a couple trades, but the vast majority of stuff he says isn't really close.
