Both L.A. and Detroit would make great trade partners. Various interesting prospects in both systems ... Toffoli and Mantha are obviously pipe dreams, but Pearson, Vey, Weal, Zykov or even Deslauriers (all LAK) and Jurco, Pulkkinen, Sheahan, Jarnkrok etc (DET) are all good forward prospects

Cammalleri for Toffoli, with some draft picks thrown in to fine-tune the value a bit one way or the other (hopefully in Calgary's favour).

I'd be shocked if we could get Toffoli for Cammy. He's too good for a rental

If we are going to trade Cammy for future third liners like the ones you mention, we are better getting a first back and rolling the dice that we develop them into something more.

I'd even be happy with Toffoli and a 2nd.

That's too lopsided in the Flames favor. I wouldn't be surprised if Burke acquired him though. He fills a positional need in the organization. (RW)
I wouldn't be surprised if it took Cammaleri plus to get Toffoli (a defensive prospect from the heat).

Yeah I think it would be Cammy + for us to get Toffoli, not Toffoli + for them to get Cammy. Toffoli's an excellent prospect

Heard lots of grumbling around the tigers that they are happy he isn't there and that he is quite the selfish player and not a good teammate.

I'd be quite happy if Cammi netted us Toffoli, even if Calgary had to sweeten the deal a little.
I'd prefer to get established prospects instead of picks when the Flames are selling off assets. Toffoli is already tracking as well or better than most 1st rounders, and is closer to the show.

I am pretty sure the NHL team is the one who opted to have their first round pick get surgery rather than play through injury for his minor hockey team.

Not sure there's anything we could offer for Toffoli unless we want to move Monahan,Sven or Gio. Not that he's worth Monahan or Gio but those would be the only pieces that would entice LA enough to move him.

Never thought of that angle, still his antics around the draft make me not want him. His drop in play (though could be due to injury) would be another reason to look at a different options for trades.

Ownership has shown a willingness to spend to the cap but not a willingness to retain salary in trades. Until King and/or Edwards approves it, I'm going to assume Burke will not be able to either.
Even though Burke is pulling the trigger, I'd be shocked if anyone is willing to part with a 1st for Cammalleri.

Not saying it's going to happen, but if LA thinks that someone like Cammalleri would put them over the top, they could deal Toffoli. Depends on where/if they see Toffoli fitting in their roster over the next 5 seasons.
If they don't think there is room for Toffoli over the next few seasons, with their current RW depth, they could trade him for Cammalleri and a 2nd.
They could then trade their first and Calgary's second for a higher first for someone that could replace Toffoli at a better time for their roster.
Trades like that have happened in the past and will happen again in the future.

I would rather see Cami bundled with a good contract (ahl or entry level) for a 1st, a couple of good prospects and maybe a contract the receiving team is not happy with, but that could add to this team. Maybe a big over priced defence man or winger.
Receiving team gets goal scoring help for cup run and reduces the their cap to go out and get some more help.
Flames get pick, better prospects than what we got last year and a roster player to help them make the cap floor.

Because Poirer, Klimchuck, Jankowski might be 3rd liners NHLers in 2-3 years?
I would rather have someone who is in the top 30 19-20 year old prospects in the world than some one who is in the top 30 18 year olds..... well #10-30

So you think that Linden Vey and Martin Frk are in the top 30 in the world?
I doubt we can get a player that you mention for a rental like Cammy - if we can, giddy up. But of those names listed, can't see any of them developing into a top 6 player. And would teams really give up that kind of prospect? Rebuilds are long and hard and if you have to wait an extra year for a player to develop into a top sixer, you do that for the long term interests of the team, instead of taking the quick and easy route.

I'd rather trade Cammy to Phx, Dal, or Minn for a bag of pucks than pick up anything good from Vancouver.
I'm good with reinforcing the teams chasing them in order to ensure the Canucks miss the playoffs.
