With a top 5 pick you can always trade up to the #1 or #2 spot.

No skill but who needs that anyway.
If truculent means crossechecking a goalie reaching for the puck and then fighting about that afterward.

Time to bring back Petr Buzek to break the goal-less curse on home ice.

Mind you I'm not surprised, I figured that 165 goals was the high water mark for this team.

Why? So what if he contributes there?? He's shown he can produce at this level. Little to nothing to prove there. It's false hope producing there and the leadership/winning experience isn't going to translate here. He said he preferred to stay here.

And you'd have to torpedo the rebuild to do it.

Word. There's 3 things to look forward to this season IMO.

1) Trade deadline. Potentially adding some picks/prospects. Maybe a larger shakeup is possible
2) Post-trade deadline. We'll see a lot more prospects called up. We'll see them get more ice time. That'll be the most exciting part of the actual season to watch.
3) The draft. Finally starting to look like we'll get a top 3 pick. We may be able to pick up another 1st rounder.

Our best forwards are like 5'10. We're missing one of our best puck movers in Russell. Monahan has cooled off a bit. Our offense is one of the bottom few in the league can anyone dispute that with a straight face?

It's more surprising how many goals we scored early this season vs the last few shutouts.

First time in a long time that I've missed watching 3 flames games in a row and it sounds like I am better off for it.

The goons should not be on the ice with an empty net in the 3rd.

Not really. The trade would likely require a very good piece and whatever 1st rounder turns out to be this season.

It really depends on how highly you value Reinhart or Ekblad. If you think they're can't-miss future foundation players then where's the issue to trading any player not named Monahan in a package with the 1st rounder to get one of those players?

Flames have third worst record right now. I still think Edmonton can gain the 4-5 points so they end up 3rd.

You say that all the time, but let's be honest bro, it's not like anyone outside of the goons is doing anything either.
