Why? So what if he contributes there?? He's shown he can produce at this level. Little to nothing to prove there. It's false hope producing there and the leadership/winning experience isn't going to translate here. He said he preferred to stay here.

Word. There's 3 things to look forward to this season IMO.
1) Trade deadline. Potentially adding some picks/prospects. Maybe a larger shakeup is possible
2) Post-trade deadline. We'll see a lot more prospects called up. We'll see them get more ice time. That'll be the most exciting part of the actual season to watch.
3) The draft. Finally starting to look like we'll get a top 3 pick. We may be able to pick up another 1st rounder.

It's more surprising how many goals we scored early this season vs the last few shutouts.

Not really. The trade would likely require a very good piece and whatever 1st rounder turns out to be this season.
It really depends on how highly you value Reinhart or Ekblad. If you think they're can't-miss future foundation players then where's the issue to trading any player not named Monahan in a package with the 1st rounder to get one of those players?
