That's ok. He's so young. I was never a fan of him making the team in the first place. Even MacKinnon is struggling. Monahan isn't a god. It's going to take him time just like every prospect. The mere fact he is showing he belongs is a great first step. I think his hot start benchmarked some tough expectations.

Washington isn't moving Wilson. They love the kid... they aren't moving him for a rental of a non elite player. A late first round pick and some B prospects is more likely asking price IMO.

Yup, these guys are on pins and needles not wanting to make mistakes the last two+ games, as opposed to the few before that where there wasn't any trepdiation and they just played all out.
If the self imposed and league imposed freeze is the reason, then take that as a sign and Burke can start moving things along. Truth be told, he's likely only got a couple weeks before the US Oympic team starts taking up more and more of his time.

Outside of their top line that team is pretty bad.
Tavares, Vanek and nobody else worth a damn.
Even guys like Okposo, Grabner and Nielsen who have put up points at times in their careers look like the typical somebody has to score on a bad team kind of guys and not really top 6 guys on good teams.
They have some decent muckers like Cziskas and Clutterbuck but way too many secondary guys relied on to be top producers on that team.

Islanders are packed with talent, have been stockpiling it for a while. They should be on the rise, especially after the big showing last season.
And Florida has guys like Barkov, Bjugstad and Huberdeau. And Thomas backstopping them, they should be able to be doing more damage than us in the standings, also being in the east and all.
I know we're better offensively when healthy, and there seems to be a confidence issue going on right now, but the fact that these teams that are a mile ahead of us in developed talent department can't leapfrog us in the standings is nothing short of pathetic on their parts.

I don't expect them to move Wilson, but Washington moved a higher profile prospect last year for a non elite player. Granted, Erat wasn't a rental.

The Canucks have the worst fans in the NHL. Loud, obnoxious, dirtbags. Can't stand them.

Agreed with most of that except Okoposo is a very good forward. Top 6 on a good team.

It was a pretty bad game live... no one looked good. Gio was fumbling the puck, Cammi was forcing things.
Take that back - McGratton looked good in his fight.

Also, it seems to be that their braintrust had soured on Forsberg for whatever reason. There was a lot of rumours about him being moved beforehand.
Wilson on the other hand appears to be a favourite. They talked him up before training camp and have seemed eager to give him a real opportunity. He also seems to fit the mold of players they like (ie. Brouwer, Knuble).

Here's a complete and unabridged list of things that went well this game:
1)The lack of scoring chances kept Rob Kerrs squeaky voice to a minimum.
2)Berra

Meh. I can't find it in me to be that upset. It's hard playing a good game with a bad roster. This bad stretch isn't going to wipe away the fact that this team has fought hard more often than not.

This happens every year, where they go in an offensive drought. The only
difference is this year we don't have Jerome to try to single handedly skate through the 5 defensive players to score, and get stopped repeatedly. Sucks, but it is nothing different from previous years. Stempniak hit Lack in the head, and someone nailed the post near the end, without that bad luck things would've been different. No doubt they are still full of tryptophan, but I don't think anything major will happen over these past 2 games.

Looks like our AHL goalies might be an upgrade on their NHL goaltending right now.

Didn't expect the start he had at all, nor for him to continue that pace and that kind of offense. But he's in a pretty deep lull right now for the kind of player he's shown he can be. I expected at least a better display of ice IQ than I saw tonight. He was throwing pucks at people's feet. Plays were dying on his stick.
It's forgivable due to his situation. But for a guy raved about most for a strong 200 ft game and smarts, he's not playing to his strengths at all at the moment.
Have full confidence in his future with the team, though. Don't get me wrong.
I think the WJC would've been good for him, just to get the feel of netting a few goals again..

I wouldn't move him either, but that would be the price if they want any of the top rentals. The Caps are by no means a lock in their division and need some help, like yesterday. Same goes with a bunch of teams in the eastern conference. Rangers, Flyers, Devils, Detroit, Toronto and the Senators all need help. That's how you get a top prospect. Play the other teams off each other. Someone is going to want into the post season real bad and will be willing to cough up a damn good prospect.

Hopefully the Flames pick it up for New Years - a good game live always helps the night be better
