Gotta disagree with your usage of the term "big guns" in regards to Stajan

But yeah gotta think they are both on the trade block. Along with Butler and maybe Stempniak too.

Sure glad I don't have season tickets this year. They hustle and have frankly been quite a bit better than I thought they would be. But I'd rather watch it at home where I can tune in and out. Cause some games they are just dreadfully boring to watch!

Baertschi must be feeling pretty happy to be away from this mess. When you have maybe one line of players that have any hope of scoring (Hudler, Cammalleri, Backlund?) it's going to get ugly. When you put a line of Stajan, Stempniak and Galiardi on the ice the best you can hope for is to not give up a goal. David Jones is completely useless right now but has no trade value. Cammalleri appears to have decided that he's just going to load up for a one-timer no matter where he is on the ice. I'd say we should start trading everybody but I don't anybody will give us anything for this garbage.

I think there's probably a lot of truth to this. Yea these guys are professionals and all that crap, but this kind of stuff has to have an effect.

Actually I take it back. Edmontons schedule looks rough..... Panthers should be able to stay ahead of us though.

I honestly didn't mind Backlund's game at all. He's one of our only players with the poise, and skill to slow things down once in awhile when needed, or rush the puck up ice and create a chance... He's playing very well.

Hudler is really fighting it at the moment. Cammy has been terrible the last couple games, and is turning the puck over a lot... =\

Pretty sad couple of games against the Oil and Nucks... Hopefully the fire-sale begins soon...

Time for Burke to make a splash.

Back to back shutouts against key rivals, that really says something about the heart in this team IMO.

Also, they should've played Granny tonight. Only players I really liked were Byron and Berra.

Too much east-west hockey, Hudler constantly passing when he should shoot. Unable to hit the net for our lives, and when we do, it's weak and easy.

I'm slightly embarrassed. Luckily not as much as the Oil game. But still.....

Only "bright spot" is that the Oil and Isles are actually closing in on us now. Possibility at picking Ekblad is growing, especially if those two can actually string a couple games.

Oh yeah..and we're winless in those uggo jerseys..Still. It was almost the opposite with the retros.

Another wasted effort from Berra. Will be fun watching him in a few years once our youth movement arrives and we have a real team in front of him.

I hope not. In my opinion he's the first coach in years where the team has actually bought into how he wants them to play (the last two games excluded). I think he's done some really good things with this team so far. I say give him at least one more year.

As much as we like to think the new jerseys are the reasons we are losing:

1) This team is going to struggle regardless of what jersey they're wearing.

2) We have played terribly while wearing them, meaning all we're doing is creating a legacy of suck associated with them.

3) In contrast, the Flames were 5-0 during the 2009/10 season when we introduced the vintage jerseys. I do NOT think that was a coincidence.

Big night of the draft pick battle. Flames lose. Sabres, Panthers, Rangers all win. Islanders tied up in the 3rd.

We can criticize the effort and direction all night, but at the end of the day with the lack of talent up front, the the injuries to key offensive players on the backend, there just wasn't much in the line-up the last few nights to generate a consistent offensive attack. These games are going to happen, and when they do they generally appear pretty lifeless when really it's more just indicative of the talent on the ice. Burke certainly has some work to do.

Alright Burke, lets see what you can do. Pickup the phone.

Hopefully Granlund gets a go against the Flyers. I'd have said he shoulda played tonight but it would have been his third game in 3 days

I'll give it that the effort was there in the third.

The decisions with the puck just weren't getting any smarter.

(Also indicative of talent)

Unfortunate to see Monahan struggling. He's making a lot of boneheaded passes.

I seriously do not understand why the Islanders are so bad this year.

Time to jettison as many of the vets as possible. I say go shopping in the summer or make a trade for guys to provide the leadership the team needs. Time to stock up on prospects and picks. Start with Cammalleri to Washington for Tom Wilson. Add something else and try to get one of their defensive prospects like Madison Bowey.
