I admit I didn't see the game tonight but I'm starting to worry about Baertschi's situation. I defended Hartley at first as giving top minutes to high potential yet relatively unproven players like Sven isn't necessarily the best way to develop younger guys and honestly I don't think a night or two in the pressbox will hurt (except for ego). But the last few games Monahan has looked average and I'm not saying that he should be scratched, but he isn't playing any better than Sven was before he was scratched. There has to be some other factor going on. Why a plug like Jackman is playing every night, when we have a skilled young guy just sitting eating stale popcorn every night is baffling.
I had fully resigned myself to the fact that the Flames would be a bottom feeder this year, but after a solid start I mistakenly started thinking about playoffs. But now that the losses are piling up, we really need to give some of your young guys some development time. To reiterate I'm not saying Sven should get spoon fed top 6 minutes or even PP time but at least let the guy play with some skilled line-mates and give him a little breathing room. He needs to be able to make mistakes and learn from them. Not get stapled to the bench after one errant pass or losing a board battle. How can you expect him to learn if he has to play a flawless game or he's out. If this trend continues, it actually really does worry me about Gaudreau's future. I just pray that this isn't coming from Burke because he isn't a prototypical Burke player. I think Feaster and Weisbrod have done a phenomenal job aquiring young skilled prospects and Jay really needs to back "his" players.

Relax. No one thinks Jackman is a long term solution.
He will be traded soon.

The problem has been and still is up front. Tonight, Galiardi, Hudler, and Cammalarri with good games. Backlund was okay as well. I though he should have got some of Colborne's minutes tonight. Joe needs to play with a bit more intensity.
Jay Feaster needs to manage this team better and make some moves. He's called up Reto Berra which is fine and Max Reinhart who had a good game tonight. But those are easy safe moves.
I guess Glencross will be going on IR so that means he can recall another forward. If they're not confident in playing Backlund and scratching Baertschi then they should trade them. You need a guy up front right now that can score. That would have been the difference tonight and the Flames could have got 2 points or 1 at least.
So this loss is on Feaster tonight.

Crow??? He is not a goal scorer and never will be. If you think he's going to blossom into one you're dreaming.

Jackman? Sure. We have enough forwards ready to play.
Butler, no thanks. He's become serviceable, and until Sieloff and Wotherspoon are ready to come up, it leaves a(nother) hole on the blue line.

Tuned into Overtime just in time to catch Robert ranting.
lol
I like Robert, he basically represents my viewpoints.
Players we need to move:
-Jackman
-McGratton
-Glencross (when he is back)
-Butler
Lets let the kids play:
No longer interested in seeing plugs out there. They dont give us any better chance of winning, so why dont we just play bad for Elkbad?
Otherwise we finish 22nd in the League instead of 29th

Yeah okay man. Totally Feaster's fault that Hartley is playing Jackman instead of Sven and giving Backlund 10 minutes a night with scrub linemates. Also, shame on Feaster for injuring our top D-man and two top 6 forwards. Jesus Feaster, I mean, why haven't you acquired Crosby yet?

Berra, Galiardi and Reinhart would all be questionable as to whether they would be picked up depending on injuries but I could see all 3 clearing waivers or being put back on waivers if picked up by some team. (Ignoring of course that I don't think Berra or Reinhart would have to clear waivers anyways.)

Glencross isn't being traded. He has a NTC, took lower than market value to stay in Calgary and has said he's not going anywhere.
You make no sense. You say if the plugs are out of the lineup, because they don't give Calgary any better chance of winning. Then how do they finish 22nd, 7 places higher, than if they were all traded away? You're saying the kids would do better without them, but then say they would finish worse. You can't have it both ways.

He needs to can our coach. If Hartley wants to be a "RA RA" positive coach for a rebuild, then I'm totally ok with it. But his player evaluation and merit system are clearly suspect, so if he's seriously thinking he's a legit NHL coach and not just back because of who he knows, I think they should cut ties.
Obviously they won't though. Both our GM and our head coach are currently getting their last chance in the NHL and I'm sure they know it.
