So if i am reading this right, Glencross has 3 goals so far. If he keeps this up, he might have a chance at making the team.

Yep keeps working hard I can see him playing on the 4th line, gets a reward for his hard work and sees some 3rd line minutes.

@ToriePeterson Thoughts from Day 1 of on-ice sessions at the #Flames camp: Stajan, Stempniak & Glencross were flying today. Excellent in both games.
@ToriePeterson
Mikael Backlund looked very solid for Team B. Scored a great goal today.
@ToriePeterson
I was really impressed with Brossoit's time in net - played about half of a game. Positionally sound, poised.

Recap from the Flames website:
Quote:
CALGARY, AB -- Curtis Glencross showed off his scoring prowess on Thursday morning, notching three goals in the first two games at the Calgary Flames training camp.
The winger scored twice in Team A's 3-2 victory over Team B and then sniped one more in his team's 2-0 win over Team C later on in the morning.
Team A's top line, which had Matt Stajan centering Glencross and Lee Stempniak, did most of the damage for their squad. Stempniak assisted on all three of Glencross' tallies while Stajan picked up one helper in the victories.
Roman Horak also put forth a strong performance for Team A, setting up a goal in each game. In the opening tilt with Team B, Horak fed Greg Nemisz deep in the offensive zone and Nemisz was able to quickly snap off a shot in tight that slipped past Joey MacDonald. In the second game, Horak dished the puck to Ben Hanowski off of a face-off in Team C's zone. Hanowski sent a wrister past Karri Ramo in close to open the scoring.
GAME 1: TEAM A 3, TEAM B 2
TEAM A GOAL: Glencross (20) from Stempniak (22), Horak (21)
TEAM A GOAL: Nemisz (48) from Horak (21)
TEAM A GOAL: Glencross (20) from Stajan (18), Stempniak (22)
TEAM B GOAL: Backlund (11) from Ferland (79)
TEAM B GOAL: Knight (10) from Gordon (62)
GAME 2: TEAM A 2, TEAM C 0
TEAM A GOAL: Hanowski (58) from Horak (21)
TEAM A GOAL: Glencross (20) from Stempniak (22), Brodie (7)
|
3 Goals for Glencross, 3 Assists for Stempniak and Horak

Kerr was saying that same thing yesterday....he was in Penticton so he has seen a lot of the team so far this year.

How crazy would it be if Brossoit makes the team?
Also, when are we deciding a nickname for him? I don't want to call him anything that dirty Edmontonians called him but I'll be pretty bummed if it doesn't sound d-baggy and start with "Bro".

After the Penticton tournament, Feaster said depending on his performance against the Dinos, Ortio might make it a 4 horse race.
He certainly didn't look bad against the Dinos and has continued to impress at camp it sounds like.

I wonder how Nemisz looked like. Hopefully he has a rebound year.

Another thought: Joni Ortio was very strong in net today too. At the #YoungStars tourney, he told me he wants to push for a gig in #yyc

He's in tough, real tough. Had an atrocious year when he should have pushed for a spot and there is more competition then ever but I really hope what Feaster and Hartley say is true... whoever are the top guys in camp, make the team. If Nemisz is one of the top 12-14 forwards, he stays on the big club.
Thanks for the updates guys. Like AC I unfortunately might only make it to one session. For what seemed like such a long off season it really seems like training camp hit fast here. Only a couple days of training camp before a game, seems rushed?

Baertschi: "Going into rookie camp I wasn't as comfortable. I didn't bring it there. I felt I missed certain parts of my game."
Aaron Vickers@VickersFC2m
Hartley: "The race, the marathon, it's still a short marathon, a few weeks but the marathon is just starting."
Aaron Vickers@VickersFC2m
Knight: "It's definitely been weird not going back and getting ready for classes but it's a nice change, that's for sure."
Aaron Vickers@VickersFC2m
Hartley: "Right now, we're playing TJ Galiardi at center. TJ played lots of center before being an NHL player."
Aaron Vickers@VickersFC2m
Monahan: "There's a lot of good players and a lot of good prospects down the middle. I'm going to do whatever I can to fight for that spot."
Aaron Vickers@VickersFC2m
Stajan: "It feels like yesterday I was one of them. I think once they get some games and get their feet wet they'll get used to the pace."
Aaron Vickers@VickersFC1m
Backlund: "Don't be shy in camp, just want to be the best player out there. That's the only way to make the team."

Gotta say I love the quotes from Galiardi. It's great having a player so happy to be here and he wants to do anything to win. I truly hope every other player has the same mindset as Galiardi. I think its very important this team doesn't get a losing mentality and begin to accept losing.

Any word on how much longer Breen will be out for Freeway? Was really hoping he'd challenge for a spot in camp. Disappointing to hear he is still out with that injury.

Fans need to remember guys like him when they're rooting for young player X to be booted off the team half way through 2014. It takes time for a player to develop and he's a great example of that.

Apparently its 5-1 White right now.
Ferland, Cammalleri, Monahan with 2, and David Jones with the goals for White. Jooris from Glencross for the other team.
Ramo outplaying MacDonald who got pulled for Brossoit.
All second hand info from my brother who's there. Ferland and Mono with beauties.
Cross posted from other thread.
