So, is Ottawa actually having trouble getting people in the building?

I know these stats are imperfect, but they've been between 99-101% the last four years...

I don't imagine they are handing our comps left right and centre like a certain Arizona team to bring their distribution numbers up? I can imagine their corporate base isn't as strong as many places, but why would people want to move a team that seems to sell out every night (and have another hundred thousand + watch the games)?

I'm not suggesting the Devils should be moved, but according to that site, they are in the bottom 10-15 in terms of % of attendees (their arena isn't even very big - 17625), - despite being in the biggest metropolitan market in NA...

It always takes that long for kids to grow up. However, the Flames had a huge and rabid fan base many years before that happened. In fact, it was in the period from 1990 to 1995 that their fan base began to decline, and by 2000 they were in immediate danger of relocating. Clearly the narrative does not apply in all cases. I honestly wonder whether there is evidence that it applies in any cases.

Calgary had a much easier time growing fans than Ottawa because basically at the same time we go the Flames, Edmonton got the Oilers. The Calgary-Edmonton rivalry immediately transferred from football (and politics, etc.) to hockey.

Default Writer hacked after reporting on Ottawa Senators' finances

Quote:
Over much of the 2013 offseason, Hockeybuzz blogger Travis Yost has reported on the financial woes of Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk. As of Sunday morning, however, every single post that Yost has written in the last 18 months has disappeared from Hockeybuzz's website, and Yost's Twitter account has vanished from the web.

If you connect the dots, it seems possible that Melnyk -- at least tangentially -- has something to do with the disappearance of Yost's work.

Stretching it to claim Melnyk had anything to do with it.
