What is Horak a sure thing to be though? 3rd or 4th line at best and likely a good AHL pro? He didn't seem to impress Hartley much last year which may not bode well for him in the upcoming season. I feel he's a little too soft still for a full time NHL player.

Going with the assumption Klimchuk rounds out the top 10. Here's a look at a couple other rankings. How they determine the ratings and even what constitutes a prospect will be different but I think they are mostly along the same lines. I wasn't too picky on the lists, as long as they included the 2013 draftees I was happy to include them, with the exception of one that had Aliu in the top 10. I also stripped it to just the list to avoid plagiarism. You can check the links as they all have scouting reports and some list more than just 10 prospects.

Biggest difference: Starts right at the top. It's not that Baertschi was the first pick, it was that the vote was an absolute landslide victory.
Similarity: 9/10, Reinhart gets favoured over Sieloff.

So seems like CP has a higher expectation for Sieloff as he didn't make the top 10 list in any of those. Also Reinhart could be underrated here, he made 4 out of the 5 and was as a high as 4th by NHL.com. I think my biggest surprise was Arnold made an appearance on 2 of the lists.

Not all of us are as in love with Sieloff. I'm not dismissing him or anything because he's still has a lot of time to develop but I haven't seen or heard anything to warrant being ahead of other players in the top 10 and probably a few posters glowing reviews here snowballed his perceived value.
I see a lot of Horak love here but the fact is Reinhart is the better prospect as I think it's a case of fans wanting Horak to be good to stick it to the Rangers and Tom.

Arnold seems to have fallen off people's radar, but I personally think his long-term potential is higher than Knight and Reinhart.
At the end of the season last year, he was centering Gaudreau's line at BC and they looked pretty good together. If York keeps them together this season, I think Arnold is going to catch a lot of people's attention.

Reinhart was the one prospect on my list that didn't make the top 10 (I has Klimchuk 11th)
As for Sieloff, not too surprised that he isn't recognized externally. He didn't play too much last year and didn't play deep into the playoffs.
Also, one of his strongest attributes, IMO, is attitude, which he displayed so well at the prospect camp. No one outside of Calgary would have seen any of that.
On a separate note: I can't believe the list from Flames Nation - it is pretty random, IMO, for one that is made from local (assumedly) Flames fans.

Seems people have completely forgotten how Granlund performed compared to the other high end prospects at summer camp.
Lethal shot, great offensive instincts. I put him ahead of both Klimchuk and Poirier right now until they can show progress in their development.

So using the other lists posted above, I awarded 10 pts for a 1st place vote, 9 for a 2nd, etc and the 'consensus' tabulates as follows:
Baertschi 39
Monahan 36
Gaudreau 33
Knight 24
Gillies 18
Jankowski 16
Klimchuk 12
Reinhart 11
Granlund 8
Wotherspoon 7
Fascinating how Klimchuk got 12 pts and Poirier got 5

Actually i expect Seiloff to start this season in Calgary for a few games then back to Boughner for a season of mentoring with marching orders from Hartley on what to work on specifically.
Next year start in the AHL for a few games and then to Calgary for the duration.
Year 3 he settles in as a regular from day 1 and by seasons end is a number 2/3 guy as far as TOI...as i suspect he will get a ton of PK time. NO Calder considerations...though im not sure where you came up with that stuff.
All this barring injuries of course, and also somewhat dependant on what Wotherspoon does as well.
As for his contract...what difference does it make what he signed for as to where he projects in 3 years? Weird thing to bring up.

This whole process is a great thing to put in place in August, the only true month when hockey has a real off season.
But the secondary result of this whole thing that I've really enjoyed is the number of prospects that have guys so in their corner that they come to their defense in all the conversations. Really enjoy reading the defending posts.
Tranny's is a good example on Sieloff

I voted Horak for this round. It's time to recognize him for his accomplishments. Klimchuk had a fine U18 tournament and will probably get a World Junior invite next season but I still see him as mostly an unproven quantity. Granlund and Reinhart deserve consideration too but they are not as far along in their development.

Actually, the one closest to the CP poll is HF boards. ha

Have a good vibe about Arnold also, is a very well rounded player that teams win with! Reminds me of a Patrice Bergeron with half the offense! Good in the dot, excellent defensively and underrated offensively!

I don't think Seiloff plays a regular season game this season because the Flames have too many D-man. They would most likely have to put someone on waivers (Cundari, Breen, Russell) in order to get Sieloff in the line-up for a few games. So it wouldn't be worth the risk to Feaster. Only chance is if the Flames have a couple of injuries in the D ranks to start the season, but even then I doubt it.

Went Klimchuk this round because of his attitude and talent level. This guy has what it takes I think.
