I want to pick Granlund as well but I went with Klimchuk even though I feel Granlund is being underrated here. Granlund has that quick release shot that should translate well to the NHL. I hope he's willing to to his time and work hard in the AHL as I feel he can be a productive player for this team.
I'm picking Klimchuk though because he seems to be a well rounded and well respected player amongst his peers. Sounds like a kid that will not be denied his chance at the NHL.

I disagree.
As of right now, Klimchuk is no different than an average 27th-30th overall pick with a low probability of making the NHL. Sieloff has at least earned an NHL contract and has trended up since being drafted.

I'm curious at what point Ramo/Berra start getting more attention in terms of votes. I would think people not considering them prospect anymore has something to do with them being more or less ignored, but they both have the chance to be one of the biggest impact-players on this team for the next few years. At what point does "internationally proven" better "youthful potential".

24 months ago, when he was 21, many posters listed Brodie's ceiling as a 5/6/7
Sieloff has good speed, a mean streak, a very strong desire to do whatever the team needs to win, sticks up for his teammates, and has all of the qualities that you would want in a captain.
It is extremely difficult to project defensemen at 18-19 years of age, but Sieloff has a solid set of tools and an outstanding attitude.
I think the sky is the limit and I will not be even a tiny bit surprised if/when he becomes more than a #5 guy.

Went Horak. Much more developed than Klimchuk. Klimchuk may have a slightly bigger upside but Horak is much more of a sure thing at this point.

I will be stunned if he isnt a #3 guy, and likely a number 2 guy based on TOI when he becomes a regular...and i suspect that we see him in that role within 3 years.

I agree with you. I am not even sure that Klimchuk has higher upside though. The scouting reports on Klimchuk seem to vary from projections of "bottom six" or "top nine". There is no reason to think that Horak isn't in that same neighbourhood still.

I tend to agree. I like Sieloff but I wouldn't put him higher than #10 on the list. Another year in junior is probably best for him.

I like your enthusiasm but next year Sieloff plays junior, the year after in the AHL so that is a NHL Rookie of the year in year 3 of your plan?
to put it into perspective he just signed his EL contract for the same value (92,500 / year signing bonus) as Josh Jooris, and Chad Billins.

Both poirier and siellof will follow the same path to the nhl imo 1 year in junior another in the AHL then a shot at the nhl.

Fun fact: (I am assuming Klimchuk wins this round)
The top 10 includes the following:
5 1st round picks
2 2nd round picks
1 3rd round pick
1 4th round pick
1 5th round pick
which is just about exactly what one would expect statistically (50% 1st, 25% 2nd, 10% in 3rd-5th rounds)
A little more from the later rounds than expected statistically, but one's a goalie and one's a trade, so...

The Stats get skewed because the Flames have had the 3 1st round picks who haven't had the chance to disappoint yet. -- 5 1st round picks in the last 3 years. The Flames have had 3 2nd round picks in the last 3 years 2 of which are in the top 10.
The only guy picked in the 1st 2 rounds that is not a top 10 prospect is Granlund.
If this poll was done August 2012 ----
There would only be 2 1st round picks and 3 second round picks as Granlund would have made the top 10 plus
2 of Rienhart (3rd round), Horak (5th round) and Bouma (3rd round) would have filled in the other 2 top 10 spots
So the top 11 would be:
1st round 2
2nd round 3
3rd round 3
4th round 1
5th round 2
