I'd rather half heart break now instead of 8 year down the road!

Well, I hope they ignore the fan base whining so that we can get back to winning.

While I am sure that is true to an extent we aren't the ones saying that not being able to come in and play next season is a factor in their draft strategy. If that doesn't scream of a lack of patience I don't know what does. I hate this direction where young guys are thrust into the NHL so early because teams simply lack the patience to let the develope. In RNH draft year I remember reading from scouts that he shouldn't play in the NHL the following year because he was too slight. Two years of him being often injured later the kid has undergone shoulder surgery. Rebuilding isn't a race and you have to have more of a long term strategy than to just draft them and throw them to the wolves.

Without hearing it, and only getting the tweets, is it possible someone asked him a pointed question about Gaudreau, so he answered it?
Who said: "Oh well he could be traded tomorrow."?

This is an entertainment business.
He is being asked questions, saying 'no comment' is boring for an industry that thrives on news.

The only player that would likely be available at 6 that I would play in the NHL next year is Nichushkin, and that's only because he's 6-4, 220. Both Monahan and Lindholm could use some additional time in their leagues to bulk up a bit and mature.

Calm down, it's pretty obvious someone asked him a direct question.

Re: Hartley's comments "We're all on board with what Feaster is trying to do here."
The guy certainly tries, and he loves to tell the media about how he 'tries', but all this trying only serves to highlight the fact that he's done next to nothing.

I think that Fester feels that drafting Johny Hockey is a feather in his cap as he's mentioned this before. Feaster should be more concerned with actually signing the kid before he gets too comfortable talking about him as an asset. Won't look very good on him if JG pulls a Schultz on the Flames.

Trade him away before he pulls a Justin Schultz; I'm on board with it.

I totally agree. Look at Hall and RNH now with the Oilers. Cripes, they really haven't developed the strength and weight gain to a point where they can compete with the bigger guys. They keep ending their season early or they spend a lot of time on the IR. This is why you still want a core of veterans. The NHL is a man's game, not some frickin' minor league welcome wagon!

What bugs me is that Feaster spoke in definitives before and said that the Flames wouldn't sign any more post-apex players. He could have refrained from making that statement or perhaps phrased it differently.
|
You assumed he spoke in definitives. Do you really want the GM of this team do be shoe-horned into ONLY doing what fits some set of "rules" that he talked about?
Does that make any sense whatsoever? Or does it make more sense that there are some guiding principals that they have when making hockey decisions, but in certain cases should feel free to stray from when it makes sense?

I think its just psychology to get him motivated to generate interest next year. No way he gets moved now.

I would agree that Vinny transcends the post-apex stuff. He's one of the Marquise players in the NHL. His name like Iginla's has marketability to it. Look at it this way, it would be the best day ever for Bouwmeester jersey owners.

He is a world class player. He has won a cup. Someone like that would help the rebuild.

Would NJ trade the 9th overall and their 2nd for Johnny and 28?
