The Senators would make the most sense. They have room and assets to trade and are a playoff team that has a lot of cap space.
The Red Wings have a lot of cap space and only a few RFAs to sign. They could be looking for a scoring winger.
Blue Jackets need help right away to get over the playoff bubble.
If Dallas was willing to spend to the cap they have room and after signing Gonchar you have to assume they are trying to make the playoffs.
Buffalo needs to do something to fix whatever that was last season turned into.

The Flames need some veteran players to remain. If all of the highly paid 30+ year olds leave, the entire burden of the season will be placed on the shoulders of kids in their early 20s. That wouldn't be pretty, unless you want to lose a lot of games.

You don't keep a player on a rebuilding team that wants out. Especially not one with a single season on his contract. I would prefer to keep him until the deadline. But if he wants out then retain some salary and move him now.

Hard to say as that number could change before now and August. It's also hard to know what teams think of themselves like that. Some could have pretty high opinions of themselves.
I like the idea of keeping him until the deadline though if a fair deal can't be worked out sooner.

I think he's easily worth a 1st rounder at the deadline.
Prior to the draft? Not so much.
But seriously, having first liners is pretty important to the team, in terms of sheltering the new guys. And Cammalleri is the only first liner on the Flames right now. I'd prefer not to see him go at all.
So trading him at the deadline not only gives the team more return (*probably*, he could be injured or terrible), but it also provides the most benefit to the team.
Another 1st rounder would be pretty sick, though.

Or you get veteran presence via free agency with lesser players and lesser contracts. Overpay for a couple guys that have a strong reputation for being good in the room

Flames need to keep a handful of skilled vets in the lineup. Hopefully ownership learned something from the "Young Guns" fiasco.
If he does want out, ask him to compete hard and help mentor the youth, and that they'll attempt to trade him at the deadline to a playoff team.

Ottawa seems to make the most sense with their handful of young, 2/3 line talent. Boatloads of cap space and a prettt good grade of prospects.
only problem is they dont have a 2nd rounder this year.

LOL if you think Cammy is worth that much

Would not be surprised if he asked for a trade. Cammi was on Prime time sports a month ago, when asked if he would like to stick around Calgary to be a veteran leader to the youth, he danced around the question. The closest thing that came to an answer to the question was that he was hoping Calgary would pull an Ottawa ( quick retool) and be able to make the playoffs next year.
Flames need a veteran presence and can not go full youth. The problem is you need veterans that want to be in Calgary.

I'm all for waiting for the deadline, but if you can get a 10-20 draft pick, I take it in a heartbeat. If it's another late 20's type of pick, we may be able to do better at the trade deadline.

Trade him and Tanguay. Freakin' crybabies (if true).
"Wahh, I am overpaid for what I provide, trade me to a contender where I can coast on the 3rd line"
These guys could do a lot more for themselves (and the team) by having a good start to the year, leading the younger guys by example, racking up some points (someone has to score), and then get traded at the deadline as some of the AHL talent will have seasoned by then and can come up and fill in for the departed guys.

If Cammy has asked for a trade, then Feaster needs to move him out.
The Flames don't need "veteran leadership" from a guy who doesn't want to be here.
Same goes for Tanguay.
If Feaster can't get serviceable forwards in return for these two, then he doesn't deserve his position.

yup, vets who want to take a leadership role are valued in the rebuild. guys who aren't overly interested actually bring the team down (bye tanguay).

Best case scenario?
Trade him for a 2014 1st round draft pick to an "upstart" bubble playoff team, and have that teams season go completely off the rails for whatever reason, and draft very , very high with their first rounder.
Not likely I know, but would be very nice.

To be fair, it's a loaded question if someone truly expect an hoenst answer.
No one "wants" to be part of a rebuilding team and likely write their ticket to an April golf vacation. Personally, I would question the motive of any player in the latter part of their prime if they want to be part of a rebuilding team.
Asking if he would like it, isn't quite the same as asking if he is willing to stick around and do his part.

Hmm, unfortunately we don't trade that often with Edmonton.
