The Wild aren't a member of the 8-team NBCHL so how could they host a Winter Classic?

Yes. Because everyone knows the Saddledome is kept at 28F in the whole building every day. Until they let the crowds in and blast the giant Enmax lighters a couple of times.

Montreal appeared twice in the span of 8 years. Five other teams have/will appeared twice in the past 8
Staggering difference.
Calling it now:
2015 Stadium Series
Blackhawks @ Bruins
Red Wings @ Bruins
Sabres @ Rangers
Flyers @ Penguins
Devils @ Capitals
Canucks @ Leafs

With none of the games planned for February, it's a good sign for the NHL at Sochi.

Maybe the allure of the outdoor games is already on the way down, so they might as well grab while the grabbing is good...

What will this mean for the HBO 24/7 series? Just pick 1 game? Follow all 6? That series was the best part of the outdoor games.

Hopefully they don't keep creating ugly "vintage" jersey's.

Does Glendale get an outdoor game before Super Bowl week in 2015 then too?

Not a fan of this at all. At most there should be two games, one Heritage Classic in Canada and the usual Winter Classic on New Years Day. They are just watering down the product at this point.
Also, how does this affect HBO 24/7? Will they just follow the teams involved in the New Year's Day game or follow all the teams?

No concern for over saturation from the NHL?
Probably greedy owners wanting a piece of the action.
Way too many games. With one or two a year it was a unique event that was something to look forward to watching on tv and even travelling to. This is now going to lose its lustre and appeal.
Also, with so many games outdoors, were bound to have one that gets cancelled due to bad weather. Worst case scenario is that bad ice leads to a bad injury.

I suspect they'll do the new year's game, or just pick the one that they think will be most compelling. PIT/CHI would be widely watched.

My guess is that at least three of those games don't get much national media coverage.
TOR/DET will be the main event marketed to both countries.
CHI/PIT will likely be part of a "Hockey Day in America" for NBC
Obviously, OTT/VAN will mostly be a Canadian event.
LA/ANA is likely a regional event mostly benefiting those two teams.
The two NYR games will be marketed to NYR/NYI/NJD fans, and to people already coming to the Superbowl. Getting a national audience in Superbowl week would be impossible.

At first I wasn't necessarily in favor of having so many games, but I've since warmed up to the idea. I agree with a few quotes from Twitter, paraphrased:
People thought the ONE outdoor game was a gimmick, and now some of the same people are complaining that it's not special anymore.
People weren't necessarily going to watch an LA/Anaheim indoor game, but will definitely watch the outdoor game.

The people in the crowd would complain about getting drenched from the splashing with all the dives. It would be just like SeaWorld

It would definitely be cool, but it would not be cheap.
Definitely going to try to go to one of the Rangers games, just wish it was in old Yankee Stadium.
