2013-2014 Outdoor Games - NHL Stadium Series - 6 games
January 1 - TOR v DET
January 25 - ANA v LA
January 26 - NJ v NYR
January 29 - NYI v NYR
March 1 - PIT v CHI
March 2 - OTT v VAN
2 games for the Rangers. Totally fair.

Well, this should kill off the interest in a formerly unique and rare event.

Ok we can all just agree that the LA Anaheim game in dodgers stadium will blow everything out of the water, right?

I'm starting to find these less exciting.
They should put one of the outdoor games on natural ice.

Yeah....I'd love to hear what the insurance adjusters would have to say about that...

I loved the atmosphere of Calgary's Heritage Classic and I really enjoy watching the Winter Classic each year. If both those events could be played each year, that would be awesome. I could see maybe one more outdoor game making sense, too. They seem to be a really wonderful celebration of hockey.
Six in a season is massive gamble. Either fans will still embrace the "Stadium Series" as being something cool, or we will eventually ignore it.

I've heard that there was a plan being developed to play a game on Lake Louise during the lockout. Tough to get a lot of fans there but would be awesome for television.

I honestly don't find these interesting or exciting at all. I don't find any fun when the game as to be delayed every five minutes for someone to fix the ice. I will say however I did find I liked the tradition of having it every year on New Years Day. I could get behind the whole traditional sense of the game but now deciding to have 6 games in one year just kills the whole idea to me. Thats just my opinion however.
My first reaction to this was this was a way for the NHL to increase some money it lost from this lockout. Especially seeing how the Rangers are playing two games in a row as the home team.

Man...keeping the ice frozen in a stadium in LA is gonna be time consuming and costly.

everything is good in moderation...
kinda saturates the schedule with these events. they're fun, but there should be 1-2 a year.

No problem with this..it's gone from a huge national spotlight on one game on Jan 1, which TBQH was a lot of hype IMO, to a regional thing where more fans get a chance to look forward to it. Who cares if its diluting the "national" feel of it, its not as if this is a 30 year tradition...there is the appetite for more of of these, and I don't think more quantity means the quality, such as it is, suffers.
I am sure this has to do with the new CBA and the "secondary revenue streams".

What if its raining in Vancouver on that date? And it's very possible and more than likely. Are they gonna close the roof and just have 50000 in a closed bc place?
Don't see it working well over here.

Ottawa and Vancouver seems like the most ridiculously pairing. I understand that they both havent played in one yet but that was another unique thing about these games was the rivalry. Pittsburgh and Chicago has no real meaning to it either. I dont see the rivalry in the game just the NHL trying to fit as many stars into one game at once.
