Shero said he's not wired shut, which is obviously great news, and it will take a few days before we have a timeframe for his return. Thankfully, the team is still very deep and as someone said-Malkin becomes Hulk when Sid goes down!

This is typically the time where Malkin engages God-Mode.
That guy is insanely good. Embarrassment of riches at centre for Pittsburgh. They'll be fine.

Very true. That bodes well for Iggy.

Malkin looking pretty brittle this year too.
Should have chose the Bruins Iggy!

This can be looked at quite differently. In fact, yesterdays game was quite the microcosm of Matt Cookes transformation. I know that Eugene Melnyks insanity has brought Cooke back to Dirtyville but yesterday was evidence of his 'new game'.
He thoroughly dominated on the PK and scored the game winning goal while Crosby was out, so this Karma logic is off-base

I guess I just get tired of hearing these kinds of things from people who don't play the game whenever something happens. It would be like some outsider telling me how I should be doing my job when they don't know how to do it themselves. Didn't mean to sound snarky

Bruins havent been great lately. Make no mistake penguins are the better team, and Crosby will be back by the first round.

How do you know who has, or hasn't played hockey, did Calgarypuck have a survey I missed?

How are Kunitz and Dupuis without Crosby? Does Malkin slot in with them then?
Iginla can do things on his own... not sure about the other wingers.

You keep Malkin and Neal together no matter what.
The Pens have been here before - time for Sutter and Kennedy to step up like Staal did the past couple years.

Good question. Kunitz and Dupuis are solid to good all-around hockey players. When they are flanking Crosby, they become great hockey players. This is a synergistic, chemical effect that can not be described other than that they play like biological brothers.
Kunitz-good speed, will hit anything that moves and finds the soft spots if a good/great distributor is available to feed him the puck. He will not create on his own
Dupuis-very good/great speed, doesnt go out of his way to hit but will, not the best hands but pretty good, also will not create many quality shots on his own.
Crosby has the everything factor that brings it all together.
In my opinion, no, Malkin can not make the same things happen.
Malkin is sensational on his own and has his own chemistry w James Neal. Malkin makes Neal much like Crosby makes Duper and Kunitz. Neal is a 20 goal guy sans Malkin, 40 goals w Malkin.
Unfortunately, you don't just plug him into C1 and expect the same production, especially since that leaves Neal w/out Malkin. I keep Malkin and Neal together w Iggy and make that the 1st line, that chemistry must develop because that is Iggy's likely line.

There's a little bit of luck involved there, sure, but you can't discount the incredible amount of hard work and passion that he's put into getting where he is in the NHL.
I'd say a concussion, mis-diagnosed neck injury, high ankle sprain, and now this lovely broken jaw, all in the last what, five years, would definitely point to some pretty crappy luck.
All I really want is one full season of healthy Sidney Crosby. It's not like his injuries are even things you can blame him for, it's not a conditioning problem, it's just really awful luck.

Not to be sound selfish or anything, but I wonder if we would have got more for Iginla if this injury happened a game earlier.
