Poor guy, he has terrible luck. I hope he recovers quickly and has no concussion issues as a result.

Damn, there goes my fantasy team. That's probably at least a month if it's wired shut?

I don't know, but one of the bad things about these injuries is the weight loss and low energy levels that can persist after a few weeks of a liquid diet.

Yup. I wish Iginla the very best but I'd much rather see the flames succeed than Iginla get a cup. Ive been a flames fan long before Iginla was on the team and will continue to be long after aswell. He can win a cup next year.

Probably because one freak injury seems like a dumb reason to put something on that would very much affect your ability to play the game.
It isn't like guys are dropping like flies with broken jaws that would have been prevented by a full cage.

I'm not going to cheer against the Penguins or Iginla but if it betters our 1st round pick, I won't be unhappy.

yes. I remember that Vanek once had a broken jaw after being hit by a slap shot ... he missed about a month and then played with a full cage for a few weeks:
2009/02/09 Jaw injury, early March
2009/03/04 Missed 9 games (jaw injury)
So if that is any indication, the start of the playoffs should be a possibility for Crosby, but his RS is very likely over.

True, but Sid has gotten hit in the face with a puck 3 times now. Anyway, hope he is okay and that he makes a full recovery... in the off season. Would love to see Pittsburgh out in the first round. Nothing personal against Iginla, but I would rather have the 22nd overall pick over the 30th.

You know normal people consider having your teeth smashed out to be an actual injury.
Every single professional hockey player I've ever met has had teeth knocked out on the ice.

Why the heck was Orpik shooting at. Crosby was way to the side of the net. Man that musta friggin hurt! I think they'd a had to stretcher me off the ice. Tough kid.
You can barely convince these guys to wear visors, you'll never see full shields. It amazes me that with so much at stake the players have the power to veto visors, it goes against everything that is in place for OH&S.

Crosby isn't the Penguins. He's a big piece to a team with many big pieces. They can still go deep in the playoffs, people.

because some don't feel comfortable in wearing them. These are all adults that can make their choice on whether they want teeth or not.

Sucks to see Crosby out as he is my favourite player in the league. He won't be gone for too long. Bad luck for him but if anyone is motivated to get back to be the best in the league its Crosby.

When it happened I heard one person say the shot was deflected onto Crosby's face.

Yeah, all that god given talent, Stanley Cup ring, Olympic Gold Medal, World Junior gold, and 400 year 87 trillion dollar guaranteed contract... all by 25 years old, are sure signs of someone with terrible luck.

And each time it was against the Islanders. Wonder if the thought of ever taking the game in from the press box when playing the Islanders has ever crosses his mind.
