Kind of agree. I'm sure Morrow and Murray will help the Penguins but they are giving up a lot for guys that aren't likely to be big difference makers.

If Murray can return two 2nds, I don't see why Sarich and Smith can't get 3rds each.
Stempniak is looking like a first rounder.

I wonder if this is a result of him thinking Malkin will be looking for max money when he hits UFA. This may be their last great window.

Never thought I'd say this, but man am I going to be disappointed if the Flames don't have 6+ picks in the first three rounds of the upcoming draft, with the way the market is looking early.

Overpayment for the Pens. Great move for the Sharks.

If Murray gets 2 2nd round picks, where does that put Sarich's value?

This is what happens when you make moves for picks at the deadline.

4.02M, actually.
But all the more reason why we should have waited to deal him on a trade deadline. A lack of patience cost Feaster (how shocking!).

That's a pretty large return. The Flames must get in on some of these prices that are being tossed around.
I actually think Feaster might be making the wrong decision if he continues to place extra emphasis on prospects instead of picks. It doesn't seem like that is maximizing the value of return, especially when you consider the fact that it will be a long road back for the Flames.

Hey, Chris Butler is a stay at home defencemen. Hopefully they make him stay home a bit more.
Christ, what a terrible trade that was.
If Murray can get two second round picks then Regehr should have gotten at least that.

I would be over the moon with a third for sarich right now. Babchuk for a fifth isnt really out of the realm of possibility right now either.
Anyone think this is going to get crazy enough for CGY to get Hamilton and Khokhlachev out of BOS for Iginla? way it's headed it can happen. Jeez.

Boston wouldn't do Hamilton for Iginla straight up.

I think Murray is a little undervalued around here. I haven't watched him much at all this season but from what I remember of him he's a rock on the back end with size and good hockey sense. He also has had very good playoff pedigree as a key member of San Jose's defense in multiple playoff pushes, guy knows the drill on the playoffs. He'd fit into their top 6 easily and make it better no? Don't see the value hugely out of whack unless he's taken a significant step back this year.

I thought Stempniak was worth a first rounder before all this. Now 1st plus more.
2 second round picks for a guy who has been on the ice for twice as many goals against than goals for at even strength, and contributes absolutely nothing offensively.
Not that much different than Sarich.

The key here is trading players for picks and not forcing a team to make tough decisions on their own players.
No teams value picks as much as players they've already drafted. Asking for prospects lowers the price. A player taken in the 2nd round last year likely has more value to his respective team than a 2nd round pick this year.

Wow what a hose job by San Jose. Are you watching feaster? This is a team above is in the standings turning declining players into assets.
Man what is Pittsburgh doing, Murray isn't that good.
