In previous seasons, players like Iginla could only be traded to teams that have enough cap room. Now (if the Flames payed part of his salary) any team could have room for Iginla and stay under the cap, and still have room to add more players for a cup run.
The more teams that are interested, the more the price goes up.

Just a crazy thought, if the Canucks offered the best package, do you take the deal?

NodeJS has far more potential, and I'd be interested in Go as well, but not alone.

They can say they want to keep him all they want, but ultimately it's up to Iginla to decide if he wants to stay here.. The discussion WILL come up between him and management once April comes around and we're in 11th spot.. Ken King may be adamant that he wants to keep Iginla, but I don't think ownership and management are stupid enough to let this team not make playoffs and let Iggy walk without getting at least something for him. The last 3 seasons we've been speculating, but this is the year it actually happens.
I could be completely off base, but I think if he was staying, he'd have extended his contract already.

I would take the deal but I don't think management/ownership would take the deal. This franchise has become far too emotional with their dealings. They don't want to trade Iggy away because even though it might make the team better long term, they won't have their golder boy on the team. They don't want to trade with certain teams because they are rivals.....
If there is a deal on the table that makes the Flames better, do it. Emotions get in the way of logic at times and I feel this is going to be one of those times.

Makes absolutely no difference considering Iginla isn't signed past this year so the only teams it adds to the equation are those who are right up against the cap and even then they wouldn't have to shed that much salary based on the fact that Iginla will be traded nearer to the deadline.
The only way Iginla will have a major bidding war is if he picks up his game a lot and starts burying the puck.

I think the best scenario for the Flames in the next month is to see both Iginla and Cammalleri get hot, upping their value before the trade deadline, and then both being moved for a combination of picks (more likely in Cammalleri's case) and high-end prospects (in Iginla's). That clears plenty of cap-space for next year to go after guys like Perry or Getzlaf if they become available, and to re-sign Iginla if that possibility is on the table.
If the new prospects (or even one really good prospect) can cheaply replace expiring contracts, the Flames could be in good shape quite quickly. In fact, I think a single blue-chip prospect is an absolute must in an Iginla trade - much more so than a first round pick or even two - the Flames need that added certainty.
But I don't think Iginla is going to be moved, I just don't think a cup is a priority for him at this point. I suppose that could work in the Flames' favour: if he's moved, he'll certainly come back to the community that he and his family call home a few months later, which is maybe the best outcome all around. But more likely he signs a sunset contract sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Meh, ASP.NET, HTM5, and jQuery or whatever Javascript framework is the present & future. ROR, PHP, Agile, etc, are just overburdened processes and catch phrases like NHL prospects that usually don't measure up in industry standards.

Within the division? You make them pay waaaay more then they have. Correct me if I'm wrong, but what does Van have to offer in the way of futures or picks we would want?

Well it was a hypothetical question and I gave my answer based on that. But if you are hell bent on trading him and Vancouver has the best package then of course you do it. Within the division or not, once Iggy is traded the rebuild is on.

This to me is the most useless argument made by fans of sports. It's a business, how many of these big businesses are telling the average joe every exact detail of what they are going to do?
What's he supposed to say, "The offers are starting to pour in for Iggy, let's have a fan vote on which one to choose?"
|
Ok just cool your jets there turbo. KK didn't just go out of his way to say that Iggy wasn't being moved for no reason. History is a pretty big indication of what the ownerships thoughts are on trading Iggy.
No one said KK was telling us exact details of what they are going to do but the Calgary Flames modus operandi would suggest Iggy isn't going anywhere. If it wasn't be would have been traded years ago when the market was the best.

If these two teams are in the hunt for Iggy just as a reminder dont forget to include the bag of pucks any thing more is an overpayment but if they must I want Shenn.
As a STH its getting painfull to pay 160 a seat to watch this old fart cross the blue line and dump it off and show no sign of the Iginla we once knew.

Schenn is basically a ppg player this season (17 in 19)
and people are thinking Schenn +?
I could see Philly being interested but it's not going to be for Schenn, don't get your hopes up

Iggy has played much better then that. Not scoring, but he can dominate a play and set something up.
A bag of pucks? Really?
