The black and white Charger I've seen up here looks really slick, but I've heard it's not big enough for a lot of the guys to fit comfortably. That's a serious concern when buying these police cars.

It may be the size of some of the cops, but now that all cars seem to have a full size laptop as well as all the other electronic gear, there's certainly not the same lap/arm/knee space in this compared to a Crown Vic. My parents had a full size 1978 Impala and you could fit a full size adult comfortably up front in the bench seat. I assume the current/now defunct Crown Vic platform has remained similar.
They don't hire them fat, they get fat after they pass the PARE test, get their tasers, and start eating donuts at Tim's.
We now have the A-prep test. Which I must say has a greater level of difficulty, and thankfully regular passing of said fitness test is now required. Unless hired before a ceartin date.
That being said my 54 year old retired cps father is in better shape then most the force.
The people that threw up after running the PARE dont stand a chance on the A-Prep.

My wife is in training for the A-Prep now. It's some pretty intense stuff. Getting to lvl 7 on the Beep Test is no mean feat.
I kind of like the current blue and white. A lot of places around the world use the Battenburg markings and those look pretty sharp as well. I think the new AHS ambulances have something like that on the back panel.
The only reason the CPS is looking at the Black & Whites is cost savings. The reason the original Black & Whites were done the way they were is that it was easy to repaint a removable door / hood / trunk to a different colour. In this case they're just going to wrap one door, and put a couple of minor stickers on elsewhere.
It might look "cool" and "retro", but visibility has taken a few steps back.

I think you have to be European to like the Battenburg markings. I think they look horrendous. I'm sure they are good for visibility, but the black and white looks so much cooler in my opinion.

No doubt. Maybe it serves a functional purpose, but how can you say it looks good?
Battenburg markings make me take authority less seriously. I expect a guy sipping tea from fine china with crumpet crumbs stuck in his stache politely asking me to please slow down if I don't mind and it's not a bother.
Maybe U of C Campus Security should switch to Battenburg markings come to think of it...

They look ridiculous. That pattern on a vehicle of authority is almost as bad as the clown outfits the Swiss Guard wear.

I think that the visibility issue may not be such a big deal with the LED lights the cops use now. At least I think they're LEDs. You can see them from a mile away in the middle of the day, so it stands to reason that they're just as bright at night.
