People who say things like PIN number. That's the equivalent of saying personal identification number number.

It also drives me nuts when people decide the perfect place to stop and talk with their dumbass friends is right in the middle of a doorway, entrance to an elevator or in the middle of the stairs. Get the f*** out of my way!

It also bothers me how much I say "eh." It's like I'm the stereotypical Canadian. It just comes so naturally but every time I hear myself say it I cringe. Plus, in my current job I deal with a lot of Americans and other foreign travellers. I can only imagine the damage I'm doing to our reputation as Canadians by perpetuating that stereotype...

... 'irregardless' of what you say... ('regardless' or 'irrespective')

Don't want to nit pick, buuuuuuuuuut:

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=irregardless

I had a big argument with our accountant a few years ago over that word, and even after showing him that it was in fact listed in the dictionary, he still won't believe me. Irregardless, it is still considered a word....... [/b][/quote]

Not to nit pick either (it's all good :P ) , but did you read the definition in your link? Kind of supports what I said...

Quote:
Usage Note: Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so.
Still makes my skin crawl to hear it because it sounds like a doulble-negation of the root word 'regard'.

I just realized one. Folding women's fataing clothes. Jesus Christ, not one item is the same. I can spend 3 hours or 3 minutes folding that stuff and it always ends up looking the shinguards.

Wide necks, v necks, short sleeves, those little ######ed tiny socks where every pair is a little different.

I'm thinking of turning gay just so I can fold t-shirts, jeans and tube socks, but I guess if I was I would be folding the same frilly annoying shinguard.
Holy Crap how true is that!

Women's laundry is insane. We have a whole basment full of drying racks filled with what are from my ignorant eyes nothing more than jeans and t-shirts.

Correction, nothing more than over-priced jeans and T-shirts.

My peeve, parking lots and door dings. Park inside the damn lines, but if they're too small and it's a tight fit, why take it out on my car? I didn't paint them.

I just thought of one.
When waiters or waitresses (oooh there's another, one, when waiters and waitresses insist on being calld servers), anyway, when I pay the bill and they say "Do you want change?". That just p*sses me off. If they say "I'll be right back with your change" I'll almost always say "Don't worry about it" (unless I'm paying for a $10 mean with a 20). When they do as if I want change, I always say yes. I don't necessarily give them a smaller tip, but I make them do the extra work (Comming back once to give me the change, and another time to pick up the tip), as pennance for their rude question.

In rush hour when cars think they can sneak through on the yellow and just end up in the middle of the intersection blocking everything. Idiots.

"how you guys doing tonight?" as their initial greeting. That just plain sucks. Right away I'm thinking about how the tip is going to be smaller than it would have been otherwise. Excuse me Ms. Waitress, as you can likely tell, my wife is not a guy.
That's pretty common word usage among my generation and probably the generation after mine. Better get used to it or it's going to annoy you more and more.

Heck I sometimes use the term "guys" when talking directly with a small group of girls. "You guys wanna do this or that?".

It's kinda like how the word "man" gets used far more often than "woman" when desribing humans. "Mankind" being one example.

When someone says 'for all intensive purposes'. That one grates on my nerves.

Sorry Sample.

I was getting chinese take out once and was waiting at a table as the worker had suggested for me to do.

As I had received my order and was headed to the door, I over hear a server ask "Did he leave a tip on the table?"

Nothing peeves me more than assuming that you get a tip for doing nothing. And this goes for 'servers' who don't come back with your change.

...But then again I have been very generous with a certain sushi restaurant at a major mall in Calgary when paying for a $30 dollar meal with a $25 dollar tip...especially when I had never authorized the transaction and got charged for it on my credit card.

Arrgh, now I'm grumpy again...

Is that opposed to saying "for all intents and purposes"?

I swear, half the population doesn't realize that it's supposed to be all intents and purposes.

I just brought it up cuz Sample used that phrase in another thread.

Yeah, that intensive purposes bugs the hell out of me too.
Bad grammar actually bugs me quite a bit, I'm not perfect but there are a couple that really get to me when people mis use them (usually on this boad, as this is the only one I frequent).

Examples.

"Should of" or "Could of" instead of "Should have"
Mixing up They're Their and There
They're = They are
Their = posessive
There = indicating a place

These are things I remember going over in second grade LA class, and for some reason it bugs me when I see them misused.

I hate people who have no idea of the difference between "your" and "you're" esp. when they are attempting to flame someone on a message board, i.e. "your a ######"
Seriously - who is the real ###### when you can't even use the proper word that you learned in Elementary school??
And I hate it even more that when called out on it, they claim "It's the internet, I'm 'to' lazy to type it all out, but I 'no' the difference." Too lazy? if you type anyway other than one finger hunt & peck, it's not that difficult to hit the apostrophe button, and last I checked, the "r" and the "e" are RIGHT BESIDE one another! I mean talk about the effort required to move that whole 1/10 of an inch! :angry:
I also hate other grammar errors, i.e "too" "to" & "two"; "there" "their" & "they're" etc.

Probably not a popular one, but:

Since when have we human's become so lazy that escalators and those movators (in airports) become rides?! They are not put there for our amusement!

(The only acceptable time to 'ride' either is when you are either admiring the remarkable architecture around you or with a girlfriend - couple's privledge - however still STAY to the right!!1)

I'm not perfect either, but it almost bothers me when people make those mistakes. What bothers me is when I make do it. I criticize somebody for making that mistake, then I go ahead and do it.

I also hate when people don't proof read what they write, yet I never do and I always see some idiotic mistake in my posts.

I hate it when a player is getting interviewed and he says something like

"They've got some good players like the Sakics, the Forsbergs, the Hejduks and the Tanguays"

Why is there a plural after these names? There is only one Sakic, one Forsberg, one Hejduk, and one fricken Tanguay. This is one of my biggest pet peeves about sports interviews
