How do you know they want to be alone? Maybe they have no idea that there are other people, like them? We cannot know what their minds are until we try to talk to them face to face. If they express in no uncertain terms that they want to be left alone then so be it. Their future will be quite fraught with danger. Their head on collision with the modern world is inevitable.

Couldn't watch the video for more than 10 seconds due to the hokey, soaring music. Chee-sy.

Some have integrated, but there are still relatively large native populations trying to live using traditional means despite Mexican (and virtually all Latin American governments) attempts at assimilation. There have been sporadic civil wars dating back centuries over exactly this; and there have also been massacres relating to the "recalcitrance" of these native populations to the intended assimilation.

So in short, many of them were forced, and many of them opposed, losing their lives. Some remain successful, though it is a precarious scenario throughout Latin America.

Assumptions have to be made.

To me the issue comes down to the fact that once contacted, you cannot reverse that. Therefore, no action is probably the safe course.

Havent you seen Avatar? It always turns out well....

But honestly I totally agree with you...although evolution and forward progress will always eventually prevail...this video i believe could have even sped it up even more...The more we start to learn more about something new, the more we are drawn towards it...the loggers will be coming sooner now...

If we destroy our civilization, these people will be one of the few who will possibly survive.

Goodness who knows! If Flames fans can't get along, what chance do the simpler people on this earth have!

There are fears that this tribe has been wiped out by drug traffickers.

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/1958...icker-peru.htm

Quote:
A recently discovered tribe of indigenous Brazilians was reportedly attacked by a Peruvian drug gang. Officials in Brazil say that a group of armed men stormed a jungle outpost than ransacked tribal land in July, scattering and possibly killing the native residents.

Researchers and members of FUNAI, Brazil's department for indigenous affairs, returned to the land and sent back reports Monday, and have so far been unable to locate the tribe. They now fear that the group has been wiped out permanently.

I just watched Human Planet a few days ago, and was amazed by this episode.

I hope this isn't true.

When I read stuff like this, I really wish a giant F'n asteroid would hit the earth and cause an extinction level event for humans, and just allow the earth to reboot itself. We do not deserve to be here. No frikkin respect for our fellow man, or planet.

You are delusional if you think that this planet wouldn't be vastly better off without humans on it. It is a travesty what we have done to the place, and to fellow man. The fact that a small little bunch of people cannot be left to simply exist in their simple little forest, because of a bunch of greedy drug dealers, is one of a million reasons why we deserve whatever is coming to us.

This is just one small example of what a complete failure industrialization has been. I cannot complain to be lily white as I drive cars and consume goods etc...and am as big a part of the problem as anyone else... how ever I do also recognize the fact that humans suck, on pretty much every level that doesn't include raping this planet like a back alley crack whore.

What if in this primative culture wife beating was considered normal and good? What if women were traded amongst the men as a comodity. What if children were sexually abused by adults or even killed for food when the hunt wasn't successful? I don't know if any of these conditions existed with these guys but, I do know they were human and therefore not lily white.

People are killed unjustly all over this planet. I don't like it but, it is part of the human condition. The fact that a culture was lost is sad but, I'm not sure why it is a great loss.
