I watch more Norm clips on YouTube than anything else. I had some rolling through yesterday… even though I’ve heard them so many times. Just love them. One of the greatest there ever was.
I’ll leave this gem as I haven’t seen it in the thread yet:

For the past year, whenever i had a bad day, I’d go on a Norm Macdonald YouTube binge and I’d forget all my troubles.
RIP Norm. I think the greatest Canadian comedian ever and one of the best overall.

Awful news. He is in my top 3 for comedians. I just saw him perform at the Blackfoot in November 2019. It was sold out so he added a Sunday show, which we attended. We went to the sports bar to eat before the show and he was in there watching the Seahawks game. He approached us and was chatting during the remainder of the game.
During his show, he ended up doing an extra hour set that night. I was blown away. Almost two full hours and the last hour was basically just recalling old jokes, "this way my Dad's favorite joke, this is my Son's favorite joke".
Fun fact - Norm said that night, that he has played the room at the Blackfoot Inn (the Laugh Shop/Yuk Yuk's), more than any other room with the exception of the Comedy Store, where almost all comedians hone their shows. He got his start in Calgary before moving down to the States.

Saw him in 2015/2016 or so at the Laugh Shop. Was walking around the room and he stopped to talk to Mike MacDonald, another Canadian comedy legend. Wanted to say hello but didn't want to bug them either. Based on your story sounds like a missed opportunity now.

I was hoping it was a hoax as this is sad news. Pretty amazing he managed to keep his health under wraps for almost a decade. Has there ever been a better deadpan comedian?
nope. to me, he was the best deadpan comedian ever.
the way he told a story. every slow beat and every pause. just a master.
I can't remember where, but I was reading something recently about one of his tv shows getting no push as he pissed off the wrong people in network management.
I believe it, as I really don't think he cared if he ticked off a VIP.

He never cared as he kept making fun at OJ's expense even though he was told to cut it out by Don Ohlmeyer (NBC President) who was friends with OJ.
