I do think they will send a player down, but it also depends on Karlsson. He might be out a week still.

Ya it looks like Karlsson will start on non-roster. Presumably once he returns one of Schwindt or Lavoie would be waived again.

Seems as though Vegas didn't think they would get both. They have put Lavoie on waivers.

What's the deal with Lavoie anyway? Decent numbers in the AHL, big center. What are his deficiencies?

He smells like Edmonton.

He was developed by the Oilers. The tools are there, but it is his consistency.

Astounding that being openly devout to the most common religion on the entire continent, would be a red flag. Would probably up his stock in the NFL lol.

The Flames should put in a claim for Lavoie now that they've lost Schwindt.

Yeah Lavoie would be a pretty good pickup that would cost nothing if we wanted to replace Schwindt. Not saying he's NHL material but the depth would be there. Seems to find the back of the net consistently in the AHL.

I would be good with a claim for Lavoie, but he would need to stay on the NHL roster, no?

Yeah, it would probably mean Coronato goes down, and then another player sent down once Sharangovich is back.

Yup. For the Flames to put in a claim, they'd have to feel they're better off with him than Rooney or would have to send one of the newer players to the Wranglers. Or Hanley.

It has nothing to do with the particular religion, it is due to being in the extremist fringe of it. In any believe system, it doesn't matter which, there is a point where people get too extreme and it impaires their ability to interact with the real world.

If Edm is the only team that claims him, he can go straight to the minors since Edm was the original team that lost him on waivers. What if another team claims him? Would those "waiver rights" (for lack of a better term) next belong to Vegas if Lavoie were to be on waivers again during this season, or does Edm still have those "rights"?

I see this is Vegas's opinion is "Schwindt > Lavoie". Being that I don't think we needed Schwindt, I don't see the point of claiming Lavoie. We have so many other options to develop into a 4th line center.

When we talk about extremist fringe religious figures, I think of Jim Jones, or those pushing end of the world prophecies, using violence to further their religious goals, etc..

According to that article, he just liked to talk about and post positive messages using the Gospel message. Does being outspoken make him an extremist? Is there more to the story than what is in this article?

What if flames claimed Lavoie, kept him around until we had to send a player down, and waived Lavoie?

We give Lavoie a shot, it works or it doesn’t. Lavoie gets paid on an nhl contract, we waive him, oilers take him back and send him to Bakersfield. Lavoie mad at oilers since Calgary better than Bakersfield.

I kid, I kid…but I like where it’s going.

Lol... ummm, the guy is 5'6 and was drafted in 2011.

The kid was a player and has had a pretty decent career for his size. Just because a reporter wants people to read his piece and ties in a characteristic that'll get him some clicks doesn't make it a fact.

Even the lead of that piece says he was projected to go in the "low first round." 33 overall isn't even really a slide.

Mckenzie had Nathan Beaulieu as a high first rounder that year (number 11). He went at 17 -- in the second half of the first round. Must have been an extremist!

Same year JG was taken in the 4th round too... so.... ?
