I think having a CPL team in Toronto is a mistake. It's tough to attract fans to a minor league team in a city like Toronto.
I expect the team to be moved to whatever city the next expansion group sets up shop in.
The Woodbine thing - IMO - is unlikely to happen.

If you see a group of rowdy has-beens, that'll be them. I'm quite confident they're going to put in a good shift...Most of the guys played with or against Tommy and Ledge back in the day, so it should be fun...I can hear them already...
My two boys are obsessed with the Cavs, especially after doing the Cavs camp over spring break, so I'll be sure to attend a few games this year.

We switched our game to June 3rd Vs Forge, as our team had a game same-day…so half our players would have been drunk after the Cavs game haha. Happy I’ll get to attend now, especially Vs Forge.
Anyone looked at the forecast for the opener this weekend? Looks perfect!

If the forecast holds it's going to be a beauty for the home opener Sunday.

I agree - it looks AMAZING for Sunday. Fingers crossed.
As well, just an observation - watching the Flames arena thread and seeing the posts and opinions about the CSEC and the ownership group over the years... gotta say it's comforting knowing that the Cavs have a different wealthy, local ownership group that believes in the team and invests in the product. ATCO has its warts, but I'm super happy they are the backers of the Cavs and have made the club what it is is today - a perennial contender with an amazing stadium.

Remember the snowy weather at our first ever game? Although that was a magical day I’ll never forget today’s weather is pretty special, so excited for today

Valour is really shorthanded today. They only had 5 players on their bench and then one of the CBs had to be subbed out soon after the game started. Their 2 CBs on the field right now are a midfielder and a guy they signed 3 days ago from League 1 Ontario.

Missed the game as my body decided this was the perfect weekend to get sick, but from my couch under a pile of blankets it looked like a great day.
Thought Cavalry controlled the first half and deservedly had the lead. They really played down to Valour's level in the second half and it just felt like they never got out of first gear. Cavalry should be beating a shorthanded Valour side who were playing with only 1 CB for most of the game.
4566 attendance according to the league website. Heard there were lots of issues with parking which is never a good thing, they had bigger crowds last year and there were never any issues with parking.

I believe in the Jays.

Our guys looked gassed in the second half. We just ran out of steam.
Was great to be back in the stands though! Great crowd today, there wasn’t a whole lot of empty seats out there. Hopefully we get crowds like that all year.

Parking was a joke, got off the highway at 2:20 and didn’t get to my seat until 3pm on the nose. I think they just ended up giving up on having people pay, wonder if there was an issue with the credit card payments cause by the time I got to the lot they were just waving everyone in, free parking for me!
Game itself was fun, awesome atmosphere and perfect weather, thought it might be 5000 but 4566 is still decent for April.

I arrived at 2 PM (an hour before the game), and the ONE parking attendant in the north lot west of the field was leisurely taking payment while the lineup backed up to the highway... couldn't they just get, you know... get more attendants taking payment? Really easy solution...
Anyways, what a crowd today! Supporters section was packed, same with the main stands. Loved the excessive smoke bombs, more of that please! Also Chowed down on currywurst and the new PIE STAND at the SE tents - and they were DELICIOUS. The new digital scoreboard on the south end of the field is awesome! Looks like Spruce Meadows is really investing in the product / game day experience, great to see!

My face is a bum!
|
It seemed like they handed parking over to a new contractor. Unbelievable they wouldn't have reviewed their plans to staff it and compared to what was done last year. The machines were working just fine, just there was only one of them.
Someone from Spruce Meadows/Cavalry drove out and must have ordered them to just shove everyone in and skip payment. We were one of the lucky ones to get to wait AND pay.
