Pacific is just obliterating us, the score should be way worse that it is.

This team is not organized.

Two draws on the road against the two best sides in the league. Could be a lot worse. Thought this side looked very disorganized after the 15th minute or so.

Next week should be three points at home against a bad side. Should.

I only watched the second half. From the 55th minute or so on, we were hemmed into our half for a good portion of the match.

Bright spots in the second half for me were Ntignee, Bevan, Chima and I thought Kobza looked promising when he came on.

One concern I have is with our depth. Pacific brought on players like Ongaro, Daniels and Manneh and proceeded to really take over the game. Of course, those guys are or likely will be starters for Pacific going forward but the fact it was a 1-1 game and they brought those guys on is quite a statement. Our bench isn't at that level. I think we have a strong starting 11 but this is a league where you particularly need a big squad to get through the season. The fact we're no longer in the cup mitigates this to a degree but I still think we're thin.

I didn’t know Manneh was in the CPL. I remember watching him with the Whitecaps when it seemed like he might have potential to move to Europe. It never panned out for him but he is probably a pretty good talent for the CPL, although I haven’t seen him play in several years since I stopped following the MLS.

Half the league currently sits on 2 points so I'm fine with where we are after starting on the road against what should be two strong teams. Sunday will be very interesting for me in showing where we're at.

You would have to assume team can remain intact for the remainder of the season?

Not good, but if there is a new ownership group down the line then perhaps there are some lessons learned that will be brought forward. Hindsight is 20/20.

Also, I don't think there spells disaster for the league. The league is clearly viable in certain markets, but I think it was always assumed that after 5 season out from the first kickoff, there would be more clarity about franchise success.

The Golden Horseshoe is a big place and a huge market.

Yeah I don't get a really bad vibe from this. At least not as bad as the Edmonton one. It's not ideal, but I would like to see what Noonan can do to attract an owner to the team. There's clearly a lot of people in that part of Ontario; wondering if at worst, it's a move to Mississauga or something. At best, it's a new ownership group with a renewed interest in making it work in York.

Finding a niche in the GTA will be a challenge for the CPL. I think that it can work, but it needs to have the right environment.

Some good news is the Cavs are advertising $100 family four packs for the season opener.
Not so sure about the quality of the seats, but it is easy enough to find a quality place to stand.

I don't know if it matters about the quality of the seats though. You can basically move to wherever you like anyway, and it's not like it's a full house where people are checking tickets.

If they continue to target the Woodbine Entertainment facility, then Etobicoke United is not far off.

Just another reminder of how good we have it in Calgary. Stable ownership who are willing to put their money where their mouths are and invest in the project.

Atco Field is a first class stadium as well. We love going early and having a beer in the sun. I can't wait to see the improvements over last year.

Interesting quotes from the Commissioner:

Quote:
Mark Noonan, CEO of Canadian Soccer Business and commissioner of the CPL, says the Edmonton and York are different cases.

"The difference here is that Edmonton didn't have a choice," Noonan said in an interview. "In this case, CSB saw what we thought was an underperforming asset in one of our best markets, relative to the other seven teams … And we felt — as did the former owners, the Baldassarra family — it would be better off in new ownership hands.

"So we proactively purchased back the asset so that we can re-market it and bring in a new ownership group that's going to bring in fresh energy and ideas."

Noonan says the league is in discussions with "multiple groups that have expressed interest and are going through various forms of (due) diligence right now."

The move is positive, according to Noonan.

"Building leagues is hard and we didn't have the right equation in this market, so we proactively — both us and the previous owners — decided it was better to be in new hands."

The league, on behalf of CSB, will operate the club until new ownership is found with Angus McNab continuing as York president/CEO and GM.

"It will be business as usual. We're not cutting staff, we're not changing staff," said Noonan. "We will be overseeing the current staff."
