Putin can only dream jealously of the huge cajones it must have taken by those Ukrainian troops to be surrounded on a tiny island by the Russian military and tell them to get bent.

Just sad really. 20-30 year old men that probably don't even know why or who they're fighting on both sides are dying, and for what? orders?
I get that both sides believe they are protecting, and fighting for their loved ones, and that's the messed up part of it all. Those soldiers are not blood thirsty right now but when enough of your friends/brothers die around you, you want to repay the favor.

People losing their lives because of a few megalomaniacs playing games. It feels terrible to cheer for those loss of these lives; how many of them are fighting for Russian imperialism vs just doing a job that provides for their families and never wanted to engage in the first place.
I can't imagine the Russian soldiers are particularly motivated here.
Ukrainian soldiers have lot more to fight for, such as the future of their country and safety/security of their loved ones. Plus they probably mad af.
Absolutely hate that the majority of a country's citizens, who have no vested interest in wars like these and always suffer the most losses, have to serve and obey a tiny, tiny minority of power-hungry dick swingers who don't actually fight their dumb wars themselves.

It's a good summary of all the force movements, battles, and plans of battlefront movement. It's in Russian but you can enable auto generated subtitles in English.

Agreed. These oligarchs are safely stowed on their private yachts in relative safety. It would be nice if the West can start seizing assets and hit the real power brokers where it hurts them the most.
Might as well start with the mansion Megan and Harry stayed in on Vancouver Island. Rumor was it was owned by a Russian businessman
Expel all Russian nationals with ties to the government or the oligarchs from the West. This includes all their children.
Seize all their assets. Freeze their bank accounts and seize them. Drain those accounts to pay for weapons & resources and send everything to Ukraine.
Anything Russia owns in the west is seized. Real Estate, Land, Businesses, everything. Expel everyone that works in these businesses.
Ban Russia from SWIFT.
Seize all Russian transport ships carrying resources & goods.
Full on sanctions on every single member of Putin's circle and every oligarch. Literally make their life hell when it comes to their money & assets. Seize it all.
And then send mass amount of weapons & resources to Ukraine. Whatever they need, they get. Pay for it all with everything you seize from Russia.

Obvious fog of war aside, some promising news in some areas. The last tweet showing the equipment loss by Russia is encouraging. Not as much of a cake walk as likely planned.
Information that Ukraine's airforce is still taking part is also encourgaing as it seems Russia lacks total air superiority as yet.
(UCB or other vets, what is the term for situations on the ground where, essentially, imperfect information is being given by your own guys that can lead to battlefield mistakes?
Like, a sergeant on the radio saying, their must be 500 men over here, when you can't actually be sure?
I swear there is a name (that isnt fog of war); i thought maybe battle creep, but im just thinking of mission creep))
Ukrainians are being murdered by Russians on Ukrainian soil.
This is not Biden's fault.
This is not Canada's fault.
This is not Germany's fault.
This is not NATO's fault.
It isn't even the Russian soldiers fault.
All the death and destruction is Putin's fault. And he is ostensibly doing it for the benefit of Russia and the Russian people.
IMO it is the responsibility of every Russian to shout from the rooftops "Not in my name." Yes, there is risk to standing up to a tyrant, but not as much risk simply living in Ukraine right now.
There are good, decent Russians protesting and risking being disappeared by Putin's secret police. Those people are heros just as much as the Ukrainian soldiers who told the Russian ship to F*** off.

Been reading a lot of people saying that a Ukrainian Mik-29 pilot became an Ace today. Supposedly shot down two Su-25's, a Mig-29M and a handful of helicopters. Maybe some other planes but some of those remarks reek of an internet telephone game where each time you read about the guy he's magically killed 5 more planes
Haven't been able to find any real sources for it and this type of thing is always almost impossible to prove, but awesome if it's true.

Build a permanent natural gas transport system to Europe to squeeze his future revenues.

Sounds like a game of telephone; I had seen a similar story (w/ video) on Twitter of (allegedly) a lone MiG-29 flying combat air patrol over Kyiv.

Given the reported Russian losses I'm inclined to believe some of it, and given the size of the Ukrainian Air Force I guess it's not unrealistic to think one pilot could be responsible for 30% of it.
Either way, glad to hear they're still in the fight when air superiority is one area you'd think the Russians would seize an immediate advantage
Yeah, i was skeptical of videos alleging Ukrainian planes as they would essentially have Russian made fighters and im not sure i or some twitter account could tell the difference. But it sounds like the airforce did take part in regaining control of the airport.
Weren't you knocking your knees in fear when a protest was like a mile from your suburban bungalow?
Something tells me if the shoe was on the other foot, you wouldn't be quite brave enough to stand against a dictator with a reputation for killing dissenters and put your family in danger. And how many of us would be, to be honest?
Perhaps we can all leave the pretend internet tough guy stuff in our heads for now while we sit in our comfy little homes.
Actual people are dying and in danger after all. Nobody cares about hockey players today.
Cool that you remember that, but also bizarre.. I don’t even recognize you as a CP member.
It’s not Internet tough guy, At the time, it was a very real thing and very scary - even as someone who supports the BLM movement. People were leaving bricks and materials to burn down homes near my house.. I am armed and had a wife and infant in my house..
I fail to see your point here. Ovechkin is a public booster of Putin, at this point it’s no different than being silent during Hitler’s regime. It’s indefensible. I am also Russian/Canadian and I’m disgusted by it. I’ll give Ovechkin a chance but if he comes out in full support.. off with the knees for all I care.
Wtf does it have to do with anything through? CP is weird sometimes.
