Really? Just excuses. A good team can overcome injuries. They happen to every team in the NHL. A good coach/team overcomes them every time. Change the coach before the team. I think our team is good, coach sucks.

I think a coaching change would be the most impact answer, but not the only answer. Yes, the reason they can't play for "anyone" is largely because of the coaching. No, it's possible to be more pathetic than the Oilers, not even close.
The Flames are more well balanced than the Oilers, how is that a bad thing?
That's like saying white dog ##### tasted better than brown.

Brodie didn't look good last year either.

Eric Francis, astute comment, the Flames are crumbling.

There is almost no chance a team that passes D to D to D to make sure the other team can get their defensive system set up can score 3 goals in the third.

I think the smart management decision for the Flames would be to upgrade the bottom six and replace the coaching staff.
GG not getting it done after 2 seasons is enough.
Bottom six is shocking. Glass? Seriously?
I see so many players on other teams bottom six and I can't believe ours isn't better.
Derek Grant, Paul Byron, Scott Hartnell, just off the top of my head. Blake Comeau FFS.

I can't wait to never have to see this guy in a flames jersey after 16 more games.
I am absolutely fed up seeing Brodie having the puck in the slot and never shooting it. Like he has only 2 options: pass or dump it into the corner. How is that enough for the NHL?

We also dress 5 forwards who aren’t NHL quality , 6 if we include Bennett. We don’t have enough talent to score , and our D don’t play to their salaries and asset investment costs.

Hear what you are saying.

However tough to win with the goal production the Flames have come up with the last few games.

I wish everyone associated with this team would stop mentioning the playoffs and go out and play solid hockey to win a single game. These losses to less than stellar competition are atrocious.

Focus should be on winning one game.

At the same time the lineup looks inept and as someone mentioned earlier, there are some whipping boys, but they are not the problem. Your top 6 forwards and top 4 defenseman have to be better.

Id bet my life savings that the first thing the next coach will do is put Brodie back on the other side just to see if he can get him going again. Gulutzan of course would go 0-82 before he even considered that idea.

Wow, pretty drastic changes. I can't argue against them, just surprised.

I can't see them going that drastic, not with how teams rebound year to year in this league.

I'd:

1. Buyout Brouwer

2. Give Tkachuk Brouwer's "A", with a clear plan for Gio to pass him the C in 1-2 years.

3. Trade Brodie for a mid-round 1st (win the deal by getting a 2nd too? seems possible)

4. Sign Evander Kane

5. Trade defensive prospect(s) for young scoring winger of equal potential.

6. Make a coach change to either AV or Sutter. A proven quantity.

Yup. It takes him literally 5 seconds to process a shooting opportunity, by which time, there's no shot.

I used to truly believe he was a high IQ player but it's clear he has next to zero offensive instincts.

Exactly and they looked good a few games together this year ! Why doesn’t GG try it ! Brodie could easily be minus 7 today already.

Also break of the 3M line , they have been terrible for the last 20 games as a line
