God I hope so.

One of the softest players to play for the Flames, soft #### all over the ice.

But we don't know that. Put Jankowski on the second pp and maybe we score. Move stone up with Brodie and maybe the top 4 plays better. Move Brodie to the third pairing and move stone up, could stabilize the top 4.
There are many changes which could be made to try and help this team out. Gulutzan chooses to not make a single one of them.

Pucks have hit him and they've hit posts and they've missed nets... but he has looked awful. His best save on the 2-on-1 he got lucky the rangers player didn't raise the puck.
He's not responsible for the score but he looks like an AHL goalie in over his head.

The first 2 goals are easy stops for an avg goalie.

He is done for just like Dallas Eakins in Edmonton. Both guys are equally terrible at coaching teams.

At the very least I want a coach that makes the paint peel off the walls after a period like that.
I bet the room is completely silent right now and all heads are down.

And what does someone with functioning brain cells do? Continue to do the same thing, or try something different? Aye, there's the rub. Gulutzan is too stubborn to admit his system may not be working and adapt. If this was your business and one of your managers had a bad business plan, and was not adapting to the changing market, you'd fire his ass into the sun and happily move on.

The team needs some plan of action to correct what's wrong. It looks culture based and systematic, two things that a coach has a HUGE influence on. There have also been incredibly bizarre line-up decisions all season long.
What do you do if you don't remove the coach?
|
Since you asked
I trade Brodie for a forward. If he can’t get me a scorer I put Hamilton on the table
I buyout Brouwer
I see if it is worth selling high on Ferland though the rw is already so weak
I quietly explore what teams would give me for Johnny but probably keep him
I make Tkachuk the focus of my team. Anyone else can go.
And I probably fire the coach
I hire Ralph Kreuger if he will come
I keep bt as gm because I believe stability is needed
But I believe the roster is the problem so making material changes to that is the most important element

Why did Hamonic look bad last year, with Leddy and De haan as his partners? Why did Brodie look good last year, with Stone and Wideman as his partners?

Honestly even if they were to manage to come back and win this I’d still be pissed at them, because they have played like crap and given who they are playing and where they are in the race... it’s disgraceful plain and simple, there is no excuse for how they are ALL playing.

Monahan, Gaudreau and Bennett complete non-factors for 3 of the biggest games of the year.
