I didn't think this story could get that much more complicated than it was last week, but boy it sure has!

I'm beginning to think that I'm living my life within an incredibly crappy novel written by the same chick that wrote the twilight series and somehow she forgot to add vampires, give me 6 pack ads or make me all glowy in the sunlight. Instead she substituted a really crappy 50's era conspiracy crime drama.

You seem to be assuming you're on the rational side of the debate.

Interesting, but to me I am on the rational side of the debate. I'm just on the unpopular side of the debate.

Everyone always is on the rational side of the debate. It's always the other person who is not rational.

At this point it just appears there is so much smoke there has got to be fire somewhere.

Disappointed at some of the reporting but, find it kinda laughable that people think it's some sort of conspiracy. It would actually be MORE of a conspiracy to believe there is some sort of grand scheme against Rob Ford if you look at it logically. That would take a lot more people, time, and effort than just thinking there is some sort of truth in the story and for whatever reason, the video has not been released yet.

Of course, if you believe the media conspiracy theories, then this is all the Star just making stuff up: story today is mayor's office ordering city hall's IT department to destroy email and phone records of the three departed staffers.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford told senior aides not to worry about a video appearing to show him smoking crack cocaine because he knew where it was, sources told the Star.
Ford then blurted out the address of two 17th-floor units — 1701 and 1703 — at a Dixon Rd. apartment complex, to the shock of staffers at a city hall meeting almost two weeks ago, the sources said.
The mayor cited “our contacts” as the source of his information, according to insiders familiar with the unusual May 17 session in his office.

How does the old saying go? Oh yeah: "Where there's smoke, there's probably Rob Ford sucking on a crack pipe."

Does anyone know if destroying records like that violates any laws? I know every organization I've ever worked with has had clearly-defined policies around email and file retention for departed employees, but I'm not sure if that's to comply with specific regulations or if it's just a voluntary best practice. Does the Access to Information Act only apply to the federal government or also to provincial/municipal governments as well?

IF I understand correctly, if its city business related it is illegal to destroy any records, but if its personal emails etc, then they are allowed to be jettisonned.

Interesting. I wonder if email correspondence about the alleged crack video would be considered personal or business-related.
