Some people's definition of fun varies greatly from others.

Fans who like rumors and perhaps a little Info to discuss possible trade situations like Sec and Royle and the others who glean inside information from the Flames.

Others, like to ruin the good time with inflammatory posts about things that a lot of ppl are having fun with.

One idea of fun stirs positive non defensive conversation, the other stirs off topic and defensive conversation.

I know which type of fun I'd rather. Keep on Sec and Royle and others.

I think there is just a weird anger directed to the ‘insiders’ from some posters. If you don’t believe them who cares. It’s the same as people getting riled up by Seravelli. You can ignore the posts and just move along

This is kind of funny. In the Utah thread you said the Flames never learn and keep doing the same things. They have in fact done things much different this time around.

Your suggestion of going for Petey would be repeating past mistakes. Not to mention the holes a trade for him create and we don’t have the prospect base to fill those holes.

Likely package includes Zary/Misa/26 Flames 1st. Now we are out our 2nd line C a top prospect and likely top 10 pick because Pettersson alone isn’t eenougj to get us out that hole.

I see a huge difference in an initial attack and taking a poke at a person that made the initial attack.

One is a response.

The other is an unwarranted drive by.

Move along if you don't like the site.

This isn’t just about Junglist (who I agree is a PITA). Even mild eye-rolling towards Sec’s posting behaviour by anyone on CP gets dog-piled immediately. You’ve made it clear you don’t like self-professed insiders to be challenged, where I don’t recall you stepping in to defend any other posters from the snark and insults flung around daily on this forum.

I think most don’t like TMZ Frank for the way he conducts himself. I used to say he a pro like Bob McKenzie but that’s out the window after he whined about refs and a teen faking an injury.

I don't really see the problem with Frank. And, like it or not, he's gotten a lot of stuff right.

No I don't like people that contributed being mocked.

I don't mind if their posts are challenged for their content.

I'm pretty consistent in that message for insiders and everyone else.

Well I do. And I'm certainly not going to search archives to prove it to you.

There’s nothing wrong with calling out people who are being jerks but I can see the point against it when it turns into two pages of everybody getting their shots in or people going well beyond the kind of heat the OP was bringing.

Big sidekick energy.

I don’t think I’ve ever called myself an insider, nor do I claim that I am one.
This isn’t my job, hockey is just a passion and I’m fortunate to have a relationship with someone who is. I’m not trying to stir up drama or post about fake things just for internet likes, I just like being able to share the things that excite me when they’re about the flames. I apologize if that’s not for everyone or if it triggers you because it’s “fake news” because unless I know it’s 100% certain (Markstrom to NJD was that) then I won’t say it is.

In trade and rumour related news, I straight up asked on the probability of Petey to the Flames and if there’s any truth to it being a for certain thing and was told this verbatim;

“Calgary of course inquired, price is very steep and would take multiple premium assets and picks, likely one of Parekh or Bruz would be part of this”

“I don’t foresee Calgary as a fit at that price, Craig is not looking to mortgage the future to try and chase something that isn’t there”

Noice. No way we should be entertaining that convo.

Andersson+ zary + 1st 2025 more closely fits the rumored ask. Throw in honzek as the prospect.
We are talking about a player who is 26 and has scored over 100 at in a season. But the package you're pitching is the dream package for van.

The entire reason to add Petterson is to strengthen the developing core they already have. Although I do find ot kind of funny the Canucks want Brzustewicz back after the rumors of him not wanting to sign there before the Lindholm trade happened.

I wouldn't trade any of the top 5 prospects in the system for Petterson. I'd trade a couple of the 1st round picks in the Flames pocket with a Poirier, Morin, Suniev type and a Pospisil. If that doesn't move it for the Canucks, oh well.

I trust Conroy to make smart trades, he's done well enough.

I still think Petterson is the kind of player you have to at least go a couple rounds of talks over though, just to see if you could do it.

The Flames have a solid prospect depth, they could make a deal work for a center with their combined assets without getting into their top5, trick is to find that happy medium.

Does anyone expect to have any actual insiders on here consistently posting non public information? Why would an insider risk their job to post on this forum? If they had that information why wouldn't they set up their own website and/or social media platform and monetize the info?

From the sounds of it we have a few posters that have some kind of adjacent professional or personal information to hockey. We should be thankful for what they provide instead of constantly bashing them because they aren't correct 100% of the time. Nobody is correct about this stuff all the time, for the simple reason that no one, including the actual managers and players, knows what's happening most of the time. GMs and scouts are likely constantly kicking tires, making phone calls, inquiring, etc....

Friedman said last night they want a C back. Obviously they won’t be taking Kadri or Backlund.

I’m building a package around what it cost to get Eichel.

We also don’t know our pick status for 25 yet. I think any trade Vancouver is pushing for a 261st.

Misa is a better prospect than Krebs when the Eichel trade happened.

Not interested. Glad Conroy hung up. We need to create a constant pipeline of prospects one year after the next. The scouts seem really good at their jobs, so let’s take advantage.

Conroy took Alvin and the Chipmunks to the cleaners in the Lindholm deal. I suspect they know it as well.

No way they trade their top forward for 3rd and 4th liners.

If we had a Pettersson on our team would you be looking to trade him for a late 1st a 3rd liner in Pospisil and Suniev?

We hardly have a core right now. Likely 1 of them is gone in a trade for that type of player.

Kirby Dach has found his form again. Another of those red flag young centers who are/were potential buy low candidates.

That's the thing with trade rumors, players performance is very fluid and impact value many times over the course of 1 season.

The way Dach is playing these last 6 games, he's no longer a buy low candidate. Plus I don't really want to deal with those Habs managers anyways.
