The thing is he's saying he's going to get back these jobs by being more competitive. In Trump's world being more competitive means working for low wages. People seem to be missing this part of his message. When the auto worker wakes up, yeah he'll have full employment but it will be at the Mexican rate of $5.64 an hr., and it will be too late.

Donald Trump argued during the Tuesday-night Fox Business Network debate that US wages are "too high" — and he didn't back off the next morning when pressed. "It's a tough position politically," Trump admitted during an interview on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"We have to become competitive with the world. Our taxes are too high, our wages are too high. Everything is too high. We have to compete with other countries."
Any bets on who's taxes are going to be cut?

Actually he's saying he's going to tariff the crap out of american products built by using labor out of country, when Ford pulled out of a deal to build a $2 billion plant in louisiana and build it in mexico instead Trump said "fine, you build your plant in mexico but know this, you'll pay a 30% tariff on every car you ship back to the USA"

He wants to blow up NAFTA and other worldwide trade agreements and for good reason, they are a total ripoff for the USA and Canada.

Okay maybe he'll do that but did you miss the part about lowering wages or not?

The thing is if he can get out of NAFTA, I don't think Canada is going to benefit. We'll be lumped in with the Mexicans.

Pretty tough one for him to call out when he's getting his suit and ties made in those countries.

Why is it 'wrong' if he's doing it himself?

Okay, so he tariffs the heck out of Mexico. Does anyone think Mexico will just sit back and take it? I don't think Mexico is scared of Trump, they will just tariff the heck out of U.S. goods.

He's flip-flopped so much on wages so much it's hard to understand his stance, just last month he said he's willing to up the minimum to $15.00 but do it slowly and not for kids under 18, as for our part in NAFTA I think our trade with the U.S is mostly very equal and fair, we trade products back and forth demographically and no one seems to ever get the upper hand.

The difference between Mexico/Canada-U.S trade is beyond silly, there are cases of U.S produce growers acting as middle men selling Mexican tomatos, peppers and cucumbers for a tidy profit to Canadian distributors at less than what it cost to produce in Canada-U.S.

Ridiculous.

He has long admitted he plays the game the way it's set.

Other than the car parts USA exports to Mexico totals are under $30B a year, Mexico to US is about 10X that amount. The car part exports are getting smaller by the year as company's move to Mexico.

Nobody is scared of Mexico, Most would gladly pay a $1 more for taco shells to keep jobs in the country.

For sure. An extra buck every time you need to buy taco shells isn't really a big deal. Even the most devoted taco lovers in the Trump-voting demographic wouldn't notice a hit of ~24$ a year for American made taco shells.

They will notice if the price of a Ford rises 30% though, which seems to be the plan.

They'll definitely notice the prices of everyday consumer goods made in China skyrocketing under this trade war "plan". Produce picked by migrant workers in the US will of course rise significantly after he rounds up 11 million people and ships them out.

This is all a moot point though. He can't just do things like tear up trade agreements, slap on tariffs, and essentially put a halt to global trade. None of this is going to happen because he simply can't wave his hands or use his super-human powers of renegotiation and make it so.

Yes we all know this, just as we all know an american president doesn't really have his finger on nuclear weapons.

We all should know that Trump is a lying business man just planting seeds for future better deals.

He should be scared.

Serious question here. How out of the question is it that someone (be it CIA or not) assassinates Trump leading up to November?

I think the Democrats would do everything in their power to prevent it.

I do love the conspiracy theory that Trump who was a pretty close friend to the Clintons in the past and had democratic leanings is a Democratic plant to win the election for Hillary.

He's too good for the Democrats who at this point know they're running a really weak candidate.

ROFL, why would the CIA want to harm Trump? If he won he probably lets them run wild all over the world.

He gets away with it because of the expectation levels. Until he's literally ####ting himself and eating it up with his hands while doing speeches, he basically can do and say whatever he wants. People expect him to be a moron, incompetent and aloof, so when he delivers sound bites that do exactly that...no biggie, it's what you expect.
