I would expect Santander to play LF most of the time?
I do agree they need one more bat though.

On paper at least, the Jays seem to have pulled themselves into the playoff conversation. Hopefully they can still add one more solid bat, although the improvement on a per cost basis may be only minor. Would likely raise the floor though.

That passes the eye test to me - as currently constructed I'd expect this team to be in the hunt for a wild card spot. Maybe they don't get one but I think it'll be close. Obviously lots of places where things could vary from expectations (I certainly didn't expect the pen to be that bad last year) but it seems like they're enough better to be in the mix.

Sounds like Alonso is still going for a Mets reunion, with a bunch of other teams now also sniffing around him with the same opt-out deals the Jays were to offer.
Would be nice to get him though, he fills a few needs.

With DH open I would think his slowness dictates that fit more than anything. It would be a bit backward to have him in LF given the defence philosophy. I do agree with having mashers in OF in general, but I'm trying to think about how Jays management operates.

Yeah. It sort of depends what else they do. If they sign Alonso they'll need DH for him/Vladdy, and if not I bet they sign Turner or someone similar.
It does seem like theyre willing to move away from defense first in the outfield - they played Davis Schneider there most of last year. That was the right choice the first half of the year when he was hitting like the second coming of Mike Trout, and not so much afterwards, but it does suggest LF defense isn't a huge priority because he defense was never very good in the OF

Still not a fan of the Jays roster, as mentioned they need hitting,
As for Vladdy, only 2 weeks to go before he won't negotiate

At this point Santander is clearly playing a corner outfield spot, especially with Varsho on the shelf to start the season.

I think even when Varsho's back the likely outfield alignment is Santander LF, Varsho CF, Springer RF, with Santander getting some DH games and replaced defensively late in games.
It'll be interesting to see who gets the 3rd OF spot when Varsho is out.

Santander has the better arm, so I think he will be in RF and Springer will be in LF, plus you want the player with better range in LF.

With the Trump uncertainty on the economy, part of me wonders if this will put an end to ownership wanting to spend to the nines. Ownership has paid enough to make the fans come, but this whole Trump situation throws things off.

While it’s admirable he wants to go back to the team he was on throughout his career, at this point if his team moved on he comes across as the girlfriend who can’t let go but is demanding a return when she has little leverage and is coming across as desperate but trying to save face. I guess there’s still time but he really should come to the realization that nothing appears to be changing in the teams offer.

Well that was pretty much the last chance at landing another legitimate masher for the line up.
####ty.
I'm sure Bregman will end up signing with the Tigers too.
