All he said was that he could see him being dealt there.
He never said 'Wideman doesn't have a NMC or NTC so the Bruins could trade for him anytime they wanted'.
I think you're making too much out of a simple opinion by a writer.

For the record, you're forgetting Raymond also has a limited NTC.
Listening to Fan960 few weeks back and Freidman asked Rhett and Boomer of what they thought if Wideman was asked to waive his NTC. They both immediately said he would waive.
Things haven't gotten better for him here since then and how he's facing a long suspension.
I think I'll take Rhett's opinion over yours.

NMC is a NTC with the inability to send down to the AHL (or waivers) without the players consent. Wideman would have say on if/where he gets traded.

Regarding the Wideman NMC. The guy is a summer away from a contract year playing for a team where his minutes are likely to decrease as the 22 year old RHD they traded for will get an increased workload moving towards the end of the season and into next year.
Wideman would be wise to waive his NMC if the team trying to acquire him offers a better opportunity

Chris Nichols @NicholsOnHockey
LeBrun: "From the sources I've spoken to, #LAKings have already indicated their interest" in Dustin Byfuglien to #NHLJets.
Chris Nichols @NicholsOnHockey
LeBrun thinks Dallas #Stars would be in the group looking into Byfuglien if #NHLJets can't re-sign him and he goes on trade market.

Sorry, can't happen. Byfuglien has a modified NTC....
Do you think Wideman or Russell could be "consolation prizes" for the teams that want Big Buff? I know they're not in the same category as him but Wideman could anchor a team's PP if he gets going. I'm just thinking that if a lot of teams are going for Buff, the ones that miss out may want to at least get something.

Buff in L.A is insane. Do they give up a Muzzin or Martinez to pull it off? I would for sure. even without the guarantee he re-signs there. Thats a massive buy-in for a SCF which they already had a very solid shot of getting to already.
That'd be the power move of the season.
EDIT: According to generalfanager, the Kings currently have 2.6 in cap space now and closer to 2.8 on deadline day, Buffs contract is at 5.2 they have ample expendable players they can move to fit him in. Including the above mentioned Muzzin or Martinez who Buff is a clear upgrade over at 4m each respectively. They can make the room in one fell swoop. Then you look at smaller cap hits like Erhoff or Schenn at just under 2M each and it's pretty easy to see where they can find the room.

From a pure contractual perspective, I agree. These players are all human though, and I'm sure there's part of him that just wants to ride out a bad season that's just gotten worse, train over the summer and start fresh with a new team.
Also, if he shows up to another team after a trade and is distracted and craps the bed, that really limits his options going forward. Teams are generally willing to take a chance on previously useful players who deteriorate with one team. As soon as you start floundering with multiple teams, your value plummets.

I think if a team closer to the playoffs offered a trade for Wideman that would give him a better opportunity to play and win the cup he waives. Especially if the team is out east with better travel and closer to his home

I think the Kings are a lock for the conference final, and my cup favourite as it is. If they add Byfuglien that's a really scary team.

I doubt they would move Muzzin or Martinez.
I wonder if they are trying to move Dustin Brown?

If the Kings added Buff to their already huge lineup they would be such a scary team. They will be so bad in a few years with all the prospects and picks they have traded

if I were Wideman I would want to go some place where hockey isn't the #1 sport...I expect a major backlash against this guy when he returns. Social media is acting like he killed somebody

Why not? Over half of Buff's next contract is sitting in one of those two contracts. As I said before and I might be arrogant in thinking it's not really up for debate but Buff is a clear upgrade on those two players.
They could be trying to move Brown. But that's a really tough contract to move for an almost used up 31 year old RW with a heavy contract that takes him to 35 years old.

I think you're underrating Muzzin a lot. He's not flashy, and he's definitely in Doughty's shadow, but he's a fantastic defenceman.
