I think he's dead. I also think the writers intentionally showed the intestines being ripped out near his chest area (whether they were Nicholas's or not), to confuse us and also lead to speculation about whether Glen is alive.
If he is indeed dead, then the writers certainly pulled a god one out of the hat. Probably to show that even though he is a main character on the show (and survived through a great number of close calls), a death isn't always ceremonious. One quick mistake, and you're gone.
I think that Glenn may still be alive, as they didn't have him on the Talking Dead, and they always have the recently killed on there, but unless he got out in someway I can't think of yet, I hope he is dead. It would be too unrealistic for him to escape. Being covered in blood and guts doesn't make you impervious or invisible, just less likely to be noticed. Also, he's in the middle of a feeding frenzy, even if the zombies didn't go after him exactly, how he'd escape being bit doesn't make any sense, especially when you see people getting bit by single zombies all the time in a 1 on 1 fight. He's in the middle of snapping jaws and grabbing hands.
And even if there is a distraction for the zombies coming up, they rarely move from a feeding site quickly. That's the whole point of why they move around anyway. To feed. So if they have food in front of them, they often stay for a while. It takes a lot to distract them in those situations.
I'm guessing he escapes alive, but bit, and is able to complete the mission and burn down the house to help save the day, and he meets up with Rick or Maggie to say good bye and finish him off.
Not sure if that theory is a yes or no in the poll.

I was thinking the same thing. Maggie will probably tell him she's pregnant, too.

I'm thinking the mix of high stress, fear and just overall PTSD probably leads to many many poor decisions. Though you would think with Glenn's experience (especially in urban areas aka. Atlanta) he would have spotted that.
Don't forget, while panicking they were on top of the dumpster and somewhat safe. Glenn could have probably figured out a way out in the next minute.
The issue is the guy shooting himself an inch from Glenn!
Narrative convenience actually has them moving quickly away from a kill/feed in some instances.
Heck, Rick mowing down the Wolves outside the RV could have been enough to peak their interest if Glenn was silent enough or passed out. Of course, geographically I have no clue what is going on where.
I think he's alive.

I don't think they were very safe on that dumpster. Dumpsters move. There was a large group of people reaching and pushing from all side. The best they could have done was tried to jump to a nearby fence. That would have been very risky. Huge chance they get tripped by a walker or don't make it onto the fence without getting dragged of it.

I would consider that a "yes- he is alive" in the poll.
I've been reading several others posts/theories by people on various sites that seem to believe that Nicholas landed on Glenn, (the guts theory,) and it is indeed Nicholas that they are eating while Glenn somehow slips undetected under the dumpster as well.
What annoyed me about that Glenn scene, was when they first started running down the alley, I noticed that fire escape / stairwell that led to a building rooftop.
Why not run up to the roof, jump to a different building and get inside somewhere?
Or jump from the dumpster onto the chain-link fence by the trees.
Yea that was lazy writing, they had it blocked off with a piece of cardboard or garbage or something but still it wouldn't have been hard to just climb up from the side. Boost one guy up, then pull up the next guy.
I think what they wanted it to look like is that they put all their eggs in the climbing that fence basket, but then there were walkers on the other side so they felt trapped. I did think it was funny how one second the walkers are just starting into the alley then all of a sudden they are right on top of them. Are they like those ghosts from Super Mario World? Turn your back and they speedily come at you!

I hope they're right!
If that's how he gets out, it'd just be better if they killed him. So unbelievable. (Yes yes, it's a zombie show, it's already unbelievable.)
That would piss me off, and put me back in the 'is this series good or not' frame of mind again. Which is a shame, cause this season has been pretty good so far.
If he escapes that mob it's going to be pretty eye rolling. If you want to create the shock of a main character dying then do it the right way like GOT and go through with the death. None of this cheap "We made you think he was dead. Gotcha!" stuff.

Eh, if he manages to drag himself out but is bit and dies after that's still committing to the death, just makes it a bit more drawn out. But I really think he's just f'd.

The more I think about it, the more I feel the whole guy falling on top of Glenn was weird too. If he shot himself in the head he would most likely either crumple straight down, or fall in the direction of the bullet due to the force I would think. How he ended up throwing himself on Glenn is kinda weird.
I voted I think he is dead but really I don't care how unrealistic it is if he survives I really like him. I'm hoping this is one of those times where spiderman comes swinging in and saves glenn, "everbody gets one".... right?
What about the blood splatter on Glenn's face? Looking at Glenn the blood goes on the left side of his face, but when the guy put the gun to his head (looking at him) it was also on the left side of his face. Should it be on the right side of Glenn's face (looking at him)?
I am going to watch this again tonight. I can think of no reasonable reason they would eat the dead guy on top of Glenn, but leave the screaming guy alone. It's not like there was just one or two walkers.
But could the main damage have been to the dead guy and they only started eating Glenn before a distraction? That is a possibility. Which would make for an incredible gut wrenching goodbye, possible heroism and overall great TV. I can see that.
