Only time will tell.
I reckon he is dead, I hope he is dead.

Weird. I am convinced Glenn is dead precisely because the scene ended ceremoniously in such a way that would signal the death of such a beloved character.

I added a poll just to see what everybody thinks. Obviously by "alive" I mean that we will see him as a regular cast member. Not coming back as a walker; and not that we may see his last couple of moments just as he passes away.

What annoyed me about that Glenn scene, was when they first started running down the alley, I noticed that fire escape / stairwell that led to a building rooftop.
Why not run up to the roof, jump to a different building and get inside somewhere?
Or jump from the dumpster onto the chain-link fence by the trees.

I wonder what's going to happen with Rick in the trailer.

Shane, Dale, Andrea, Lori, Herschel, Beth...just to name a few of the main characters that have been killed off.
I seriously hope that Glenn isn't dead, but I find it difficult to see how he can survive that situation. They spent a couple of moments in the episode that were touching and perhaps as a lead into Glenn's fate, taking a moment to look at Herschel's watch before leaving for that doomed mission, calling Rick a dumbass via walkie as a callback to their first conversation in season 1. Of course, all elements considered this could be nothing more than clever misdirection by the writers & producers of the show.
This next part I say with the utmost caution because I know how much some in this thread dislike the mention of the comics, keeping in mind that the producers of the show aren't always 100% true to the source material, but there is a big moment that takes place with Glenn in the series that had a huge impact to the characters & became one of the biggest moments in that particular story line. But like I said to begin with, I find it very difficult to see how Glenn can come out of that situation alive.
And lastly, here is something from Scott Gimple, who released a statement to be read on the Talking Dead after last night's episode regarding Glenn's fate:
Quote:
"Dear fans of The Walking Dead, this is a hard story to tell, and when we were planning to tell it, we knew our friends over at Talking Dead would be talking to you about it, and knowing you’d talking and feeling and commiserating, I knew we should say something about it, lest our silence say something we didn’t mean to say or not say so I will say this," Gimple wrote. "In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn or parts Glenn again, either in flashback, or current story, to help complete the story."
|
Ambiguous perhaps, but I hope they don't keep us waiting too long to find out what happens. Next episode is another 90 minute affair, lots to this current story line still, with perhaps a bit of flashbacks dealing with Morgan's road to Zen-dom.
I'll finish with this...because reading through the posts I didn't see anything regarding this character, but remember that Inid leaves Alexandria. Whether her story will collide with Rick's or Glenn's we will hopefully find out next week. Or she's a spy for the Wolves or another group of baddies?

Yeah even when the walkers started coming down the alley they still had that opening.
Moreover, why aren't they always covered in zombie guts. I would get up in the morning, sh**, shower and shave, and then cover myself in zombie guts. That would be my daily routine.

I'd also be wearing chainmail, kevlar, or at the very least leather. Some of the women are walking around in booty shorts FFS.

I think Glenn is under the other dude, who's getting ripped apart, and he's going to pull himself under the dumpster and survive.

I knew Glenn would be the next to go just given the way they've been dealing with him but I really did not think it would be zombie death. Figured it'd be either Nicholas or some other living breathing human. Doesn't seem right.

I can't see how Glenn could be alive, it would be quite lame if he did end up surviving some how. The chances that none of the walkers took a bite out of him would be too ludicrous to believe, even for a zombie show.

If Glenn is alive it would be pretty lame as there's no way a group that large would just eat what's on top of him when his legs and arms would likely be visible. It sure looked like when he fell and was initially lying on his back there was nobody on top of him and he was screaming like he was getting eaten then his head fell motionless. He's dead. Get over it. It was about time one of the core characters died as it brings a bit of realism to the show that not just the nobodies are in danger.

A big (loud) distraction created near the feasting herd causing them to forget about Nicholas and walk away? this would fit the MO of the show. Glenn could just lay there under the entrails until the walkers are gone.
This is the only way I can see Glenn surviving.

I would like to change my answer to "No". I forgot that he wasn't a guest on The Talking Dead, and they always have them as a guest after they die.

If he is dead it would be the next episode where he dies, he wasn't really dead yet. And I think they are going to leave us hanging, with a flashback episode centred on Morgan. I bet we don't get any more info next week.
well played

I'm thinking the mix of high stress, fear and just overall PTSD probably leads to many many poor decisions. Though you would think with Glenn's experience (especially in urban areas aka. Atlanta) he would have spotted that.
