Does the 10pts per million rule still apply (i.e. 70pts should be the reasonable target?)
Kadri being a great defensive center 60-70 with great fancy stats would be good. Really it's about winning though.

Kadri's playoff record is top notch. His major downside has been trying too much and losing his cool. He seems more mature now through.
I agree...this is huge to me. Gaudreau is not the guy to lead your team to the Stanley Cup. I have always thought that. also, Tchakuk never lives up to the hype in the playoffs at all.

I feel like this new core has until 2026 to do its damage.
And I don't even think the Flames are done yet.

Lifetime Suspension
If Kadri puts up 65 points as a 2C I'm ecstatic.
That's an offensive upgrade on Backs. And you know he has all the capability to do the defensive work as well.
All the while you know Backs will still flirt with 40 from the third line and turn on "beastlund" in the second half as he does annually.

Not sure everyone is realizing quite yet how much a guy who can neuter mcnadvid is going to be if we meet in the p/o again.

Some of you need to take the armchair GM hat off and quit the desire for perpetual rebuilding.
This team could be really, really good.
Enjoy it.
The next rebuild will be here in a few years. Hopefully we have another cup by then.

Still think this is a bad contract signing for the Flames. Saving grace is that there's not other conditions like NMC or NTC or any other modified No-whatever clause to trade him at any point to any team. TBH, Kadri is not worth $7M now and definitely won't be in the upcoming years. Total overpayment for a dirty on-ice player.

Let’s do this!!!!! Thought team should have rebuilt without Johnny and Tkachuk ,but Tre has done a great job this summer and somehow turned the team into a contender. I can’t wait for season to start!!!!
Also a big kadri fan. Love these type of players.

There almost-certainly will be once all the details get out.

7 million for a .5ppg center isn't that bad. 1.35% higher cap hit than when Backlund signed

Flames now have 3 really good defensive centres in Lindy, Kadri, and Backlund. I'm excited to see how Sutter uses them.
Edit: Backlund, not Backstrom! Fat finger autocorrect!

Treliving just mentioned "we've got a lot of defensemen still" when talking about the last few weeks.

Tre also said that Kadri "had choices" referring to other teams he could have signed with.
