What makes it worse is that Edmonton knows they can get away with it, so they’ll no doubt continue to dive their way through the rest of the series, knowing they’ll be gifted PPs as a result. L.A. had better improve their PK, because they’re gonna need it.
Has the league relaxed on calling embellishment? I recall in the past players being fined for multiple embellishments but either I haven't been paying enough attention or there haven't been many of late. They need to crack down and IMO even if the on ice officials miss it, it should be reviewable after the game by the NHL like other forms of discipline and the player fined after the fact.
There’s embellishing contact and then there’s grabbing an opponent’s stick and falling over while holding the stick like your laptop was getting stolen and you need to hide what’s on it level of cheating.
Why can’t that be shown more on snet? If Mavi is such a great player why cheat?

I would hope that the league and officials look at the film of the first two games and decide that the Oilers have embarressed them enough with all of the diving. But then again the League certainly seems to treat the Oilers like the favorite son.
I mean I'm amazed that the Oilers haven't loaded this up on the PA and play it whenever the Oilers get looked at funny.

It is anyone's guess what happens tonight. For whatever reason the fact that game two was a blowout makes things seem less clear than if it were a regular win.
I could not believe that... you want to stop diving referees, it's very simple, the obvious diver/embellisher (has to be obvious - like Smith's last night, delayed falling star fish) gets a penalty and no one else - this taking both players doesn't deter diving at all - at best the diver's team gets a powerplay and at worst it's 4 on 4.
And what is Kelly Hrudey doing calling this a "good play" by Smith diving. Kelly, it's called cheating, and just because he got away with it, that doesn't make it a "good play" or right - kids are watching these games, we want them to play honest hockey, and I know the NHL is "big business" and "we'll do everything to win" - but where do you draw the line, where are your morals, cheating is cheating and it shouldn't be praised as a "good play" regardless of the outcome.
Kelly doesn't have a problem with cheating, he cheated in 1990 when Gilmour scored on him in OT.
nothing worse than watching this, flames are a better team but the oilers continue to get nothing but luck.
LA is laying down for them, not even giving them a challenge. Can't wait to see these pretenders face a good team! It's actually good, this will give them false confidence so when they lose it will hurt more lol
