Clearly building Dwight to be a good guy. Probably the one who sacrifices himself to save Daryl at some point. Good slow episode. Surprised Dwight didn't shoot the guy in the head though, if he was truly compassionate.
He admires Daryl. He wants to be Daryl. When Daryl was offered the easy way out he stood his ground, refused to yield whereas Dwight gave Negan everything he wanted.
He gave him his service, his subservience, his dignity, his honour and his wife. Negan took far more than half of everything Dwight had and now here Daryl is and he refuses to give Negan a damned thing.
What this also shows is defiance to Negan. That you dont have to do things Negan's way, Daryl wont.
So now what you see is a beaten dog who is beginning to realize that he doesnt have to sit back and just keep taking the beatings. There is another way.

We're on easy street
And it feels so sweet
Cause the world is bout a treat
When you're on easy street
And we're breaking out the good champagne
We're sitting pretty on the gravy train
And when we sing every sweet refrain repeats
We're on easy street
And it feels so sweet
Cause the world is bout a treat
When you're on easy street
And we're breaking out the good champagne
We're sitting pretty on the gravy train
And when we sing every sweet refrain repeats
I hate you.

What was the song that was playing at the beginning when we got a snapshot of D's day to day life?

Just me or has the amount of advertising increased dramatically even since last season? It just seems like the ads run for almost as much time as the show airs.

I didn't time it but it sure seemed that way when I was watching it PVRed.
A couple of times it felt like there was only a few minutes of the show and then I was skipping through commercials again, and not just a few commercials either but wearing out the skip ahead button on my remote.

That "easy street" sandwich looked disgusting, not the dog food part but using 2 loaf ends for a sandwich?? I would have broke then and there. I mean who does that???!?!?! the guy is a prisoner but he's still human.

Location: Close enough to make a beer run during a TV timeout
Exp:
So when Dwight was walking the "code orange" guy back, he was holding the gun in his left hand and holding his chest with his right hand. Did he maybe get bit? Like off camera in the same way the bike got wrecked?
It's like Darryl is trying to get himself killed. He knows Rick and crew cannot do anything till he's alive. So him refusing to become a Negan = wanting to get killed = saying he's holding his ground to protect others = Giving Rick and co. an out?

If you go to the AMC website, they have the first two episodes available commercial-free, and they're actually about 48 minutes long. That's 4 minutes longer than most hour-long shows with the commercials removed.
I think it seems like there's more commercials because of the way the episodes are structured. With most shows, there's a short opening segment followed by the credits and a commercial break. TWD tends to do a longer opening segment, so the first commercial break is later. The first half hour tends to have a higher show to commercial ratio, and they make up for that in the second half of the show.

Honestly though, that song is 1:45 long. Thats nothing, but I think I wanted to end it after about 13 seconds. Its horrible. Listening to that on a loop? I'd be making a noose out of my own hair after the first half hour.
Daryl is a serious champ.

He may think that Negan figures Rick may try to fight which is why he took Daryl as collateral. As large of an army as Negan appears to have, the main group has managed to take out quite a few of them, and I'm sure Negan doesn't want to senselessly lose numbers. Daryl may be assuming Negan won't kill him until he knows for sure he has Rick in check
