Not a fan of Roseanne are you?

Agreed, Rick and his group are The Walking Dead. This show hasnt been about walkers for a while now.

Which is exactly why they can have the quantity of walkers continue to decrease.

Absolutely, the plot device that is the walkers is simply a technique to make something essential (survival) which is already incredibly hard, significantly more difficult at key opportune moments.
A constant, if minor threat, that can be used for escalation when used creatively.
Creating the need for walls, a consequence of walls breaking down, dumping truckfulls into inhabited areas or when two characters are fighting it out some walkers show up to make it harder, that kind of thing.

I was thinking more Dallas style, the Roseanne ending of the walking dead would involve Rick writing all of this after divorcing his wife while they were having marriage troubles. He would clearly be jaded by the whole experience and be suffering from self esteem issues, hence why he killed her off so brutally in the story and had to make himself out to be the hero. The credits would roll with Rick being wheeled into a mental hospital with Negan.

I can see a Rick vs Negan ping-pong match, winner takes all the pudding.

I've changed my stance, now I hope the writers go this route so we can see what Negan names his barbed wire wrapped paddle.

That would be wildly impractical in the context of playing ping-pong. The ball would go everywhere.

Have you ever played ping pong? It's 90% mental, the barbed wire would be for intimidation, rick would just give up before the first serve. Besides one could argue that wrapping a bat in barbed wire would cushion it's bluntness when used to bash in heads, Negan has clearly demonstrated an ability to compensate for the potential handicaps presented when wrapping sports equipment in barbed wire.

That scene between Dwight and the random guy on the road might have been one of the best this series has ever had. Wow.

I liked the scene with Dwight and his wife in the stairwell. Clearly both of them hate life and are prisoners just like Darryl.

Actually, in all, that might have been the best slow-paced episode this show has ever done. Maybe one of the best in all.
There were a lot of layers in there.

Clearly building Dwight to be a good guy. Probably the one who sacrifices himself to save Daryl at some point. Good slow episode. Surprised Dwight didn't shoot the guy in the head though, if he was truly compassionate.

So Dwight turning down the free hook up was because he is staying true to his (Negan's) wife? You can see the hate Dwight has for Negan. I think he's going to do something to help Darrell.

That was a test. If he would've said yes, he'd be a dead man...and he knew it.

He couldn't be compassionate though, Negan expected him to return with the guy dead or alive and if he was dead he's used to protect the compound.

It was a great episode, that really highlights the conditions in Negan's world.
I actually don't think we saw one Zombie death in that episode did we?

One zombie death, they one random guy on the road was struggling with. And a few under the bridge but that was off screen.

Digging this story line so far. Feel as though there was a real infusion of solid acting too. Both the actors portraying Negan and Dwight are excellent. Sad to see Glenn and Ab go, but both had become fairly 1 dimensional characters.

Keeping the cast focus to a lower number typically seems to help the acting. Less Carl and other strugglers involved. I agree it was one of the best episodes I have seen in quite a while, didnt feel slow at all. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
