They have definitely been branching out over the years and have said that’s what they want to do, but they have way more hits than misses. This movie looks fun, with a great cast.
Yeah, maybe my childlike wonder is finally fading but that looks pretty lame. But I've always thought Superman is lame, so probably some bias. He's hard to make cool and I think you either need to lean into the corny or go the Snyder route. I think Gunn is leaning into the corny, but the trailer is trying to make it look like Man of Steel.
Seems like a basic universe reboot film. Introduce a buttload of characters, build the world a little, try and set the table for the follow up solo flicks. We got a live action Mr Terrific, that's kinda cool.
Good enough to peak my interest. The idea of an actual strong DC movie franchise (ignoring the Batman trilogy) is just too compelling. I hope they get it right this time.
The best version was the old Justice League animated series, and some of the movies that followed.

I dunno... Im a little worried it will be 2 hours of (bad) comic relief? Still, I get that they couldn't just do another one with the same formula as Man of Steel.
Looks kinda dumb and lame. Who are all these wacky bad CGI other superheroes? Bowl cut Green Lantern guy? Mace-Hawk lady? Not-Godzilla? F Murray Abraham's character from Star Trek Insurrection? Drone shields guy?
And the always original trailer tagline 'It Begins' -- yeah another lame superhero universe nobody asked for.

I'll keep saying it until they do it....set the DCU in the 50's. It would be WAY more interesting and instantly separate it from all other superhero fair.

Following the first teaser for Man Of Steel with Costner's VO was the most excited I had been for a movie in a long time- and it ended up being just ok. Just want a good Superman movie with modern tech.

Cmon. That's Guy Gardner. He's potentially awesome. Although he should be dressed in green.
This movie will live or die on how Lex Luthor is portrayed. He's supposed to be evil, but also an ultra charismatic business man/politician. Eisenberg's awkward Luthor was weird and totally out of place.
I'm also worried that there's going to be too much comedy here. Although the tone overall seems pretty great from the trailer. They have Krypto, Guy Gardner, NoHo Hank, a silly Clark Kent (which actually looked pretty good), and all of it together could be too much.

The DCEU already tried that with the Justice Society in Black Adam. It wasn't well received. These guys have enough on their plate, making a realistic time piece is an added hurdle they don't need. Just focus on making a good film.
