Lol, my favorite quote from that presser:

"I think over 82 games we were a 4 line team...for the most part...I think. For sure we were a 3 line team."

With the Flames & Grease out and football season getting closer, I'm starting to run into rival NFC South fans on social media more & getting in the odd chirp session. It's funny how much more chill & reasonable people from Georgia, the Carolinas and Florida seem after dealing with Oiler fans the past 6 months. God they're such potty-mouth troglodytes lol

There's this guy in my neighbourhood who is an Oilers fan. He's obnoxious... I mean, he is an Oilers fan afterall.

I couldn't avoid him yesterday. He saw me and made a beeline across the street to talk to me. He figured I was dying to talk about how the Oilers got screwed. He hit the three main points most fans complain about when their team loses:

1. The goalie sucks
2. The refs screwed them
3. Bettman doesn't want a Canadian team to win the Cup.

I said "The coach screwed the goalie and ruined his confidence by how he handled him" - he said, well what can he do when the goalie sucks?

I said, the refs don't officiate, they game manage. What you see as a call is not always going to be called because they are managing the game. Every single team will complain about missed calls. So a call got missed, what did your team do/not do the other 59 minutes of the game that put them in a position to lose? - "well, the refs were out to get them every game, all game long!"

I said, Bettman wants the league's poster boy to win the cup. It is great for marketing to have the biggest names front and center and making things happen. - "Well, if Bettman had his way there wouldn't be any teams in Canada. Look at how he's letting the team in Arizona stay even though they don't like hockey there."...

Always a conspiracy theorist, that guy. Stupid Oiler fan.

Agreed.
And Oilers media are acting like they were just beating Vegas away from the cup.
Complete disrespect for the remaining teams when Carolina was a higher rank than them and Dallas was 1 point behind them this season.
They talk like thay came only the playoffs with Boston's season.

That guy is a complete not-winner.

One of the best lines I’ve seen about Woodcroft (and it may have been on this forum) was that he always looks like he’s about two seconds away from demanding to know if you know who his father is.

Don’t hesitate to mention that McDavid’s inability to fight through a check or play anything close to a physical game, then piss & moan when anyone has the audacity to touch him is the worst example of how the game should be played for kids by “the best player in the world” in the history of the game.

If he doesn’t agree then ask him if he wants his kid, grand kid etc. whining and complaining to the refs at any & every perceived infraction?

Is there a mandate from the Oiler brass that media has to portray everything positively about the Oilers? Or is the media just a collection of fanboys and they do it willingly because they can't bear writing something negative about their team?

It's disgusting either way.

Lol they’ll change their approach until they lose 5 in a row… then go right back to over playing the two Queens of missed calls 22-26 minutes a night.

Losers.

They're nowhere near good enough to win a way other than diving and praying, so what does that mean? Double down and get the team a diving coach? Spend the summer training in a pool?

I don't know if this is a good time(at least for McPissy) to switch to their only other known approach, which is winning more draft lotteries. See if they can build another team of 1OAs faster than they can desperately leave town.
