Big Tuna makes me appreciative of posters like Karl who are also Leaf Fans but come here to have good intelligent conversations without trolling. Kind of like posters from the past like Champion makes me appreciate Oilfan, Weitz and Walter (and a few others). Just like HenrikSedin33 makes me appreciate Diane Phaneuf.
Thanks Big Tuna. You make me love Karl.

Flames play NSH, VAN, CAR, SJS all in a couple of weeks so maybe nothing there. Odd that a Flames scout is taking in the DAL/CGY game though. Perhaps some smoke there.
The other teams may be playing Dallas in the near future. Who knows!
I want to see some trades though.

Sean Shapiro @seanshapiro
Scouts from Calgary, Vancouver, Nashville, NJ, Winnipeg, Chicago, Columbus, LA, Pittsburgh and Tampa present for #txstars vs. San Antonio.
So majority of scouts at tonight's game were at Texas game last night so logic would assume they are watching stars and not us. Exceptions could be sharks, Habs, hurricanes and Canucks who had no scouts at ahl game last night.
Don't care who goes where, I just want all of our UFAs gone. In a dream world also Wideman, Bollig and Raymond (good luck with that). We need to guarantee ourselves a top 5 pick. I think it is imperative we make moves sooner than later so that we end up in the basement. This team needs high end talent and needs to see what we really have in Granlund, Jooris, Nakladal, etc.

^ Stars probably looking to trades prospect(s)/pick(s) for a good Veteran D
I could see them looking at Hudler. They don't really have any high quality RW. They have Nichushkin and Eakin in the top 6, which is fine, but not as good as having a guy like Hudler.
I could see the Flames angling to snag a D-man or two from their system.
It'll be interesting to see.

The Winnipeg #Jets and captain Andrew Ladd mutually break off contract talks as Ladd is seeking a 6 year contract worth $6M per year. If they decide to trade Ladd , the asking price is a 1st round pick, roster player and prospect.
St.Louis #Blues F David Backes turned down a three-year,$16.5M contract extension worth $5.5M AAV.
If Ladd was a couple years younger and could play RW i'd be into trading for him
If you can land Andrew Ladd, you sign him every single time. Exactly the type of top 6 LW you saddle up along side Bennett.
It really is too bad his contract is going to be pretty far out of the Flames price range come UFA day.
He'll be 31 next season. 6 years might be too ambitious for him and is agent. 4 years at 6m per I can see. even then with the dwindling CAD, that may have to come down a bit too. Bad time to be UFA with the cap likely to not go up much.

There are fans in Chi, that would LOVE to see Ladd as a rental #1LW, but for this to happen, Winnipeg would have to keep about 50% of his salary...expendable youngsters are speculated to be Dano or Pokka plus picks...although this is all just fan conjecture, this makes some sense, as Ladd is a known quantity, and has played in (and won) in Q's system before...unlike others, Q would probably have instant trust in the guy.

Yes, yes, the Leafs have it all figured out this time. Ignore the last few decades of results, those players were clearly outliers. I'm sure we'll look back in 10 years and marvel at the Stanley Cup core that was drafted by the Leafs over the last three years.
What does the history of the Leafs matter in regards to what Shanahan is doing?
Your excuses are hilarious. And BTW, even if Nylander played this year, he'd still be a "Prospect" for the Leafs. It isn't until their second season they lose that ranking as a prospect.(Max Domi is still a prospect for Arizona, hence why they are #1) And LOL @ "Eastern Bias". Every team ahead of the Leafs in prospects is from the Western conference.

They can ask for that but they sure as hell are not getting it.

But if the Jets are losing Buff, what would they have to give up for Hamonic? I could see them able to move pieces for him if they have a lot of pieces. I don't know what they'd be able to offer that the Flames or even coilers couldn't beat.
