They will or they won’t; either way, it’s a conspiracy against the Oilers according to the unwashed.

Seravalli also mentioned that the Oilers should be interested in Tony DeAngelo, 28, who he argued is a better player than any of the other unsigned veterans such as Tyson Barrie, Justin Schultz and Kevin Shattenkirk.
“All the intel that I have is that he’s a really well-liked teammate. Have there been some skirmishes that have popped up over the course of a career? Did he gain notoriety for his Twitter account? Those things are all true. Some of them are true. Some of them have become legend. But I think what you’re talking about is the potential for a 50-point defenceman on your team that is still in his 20s that is ready, willing and able to play for close to league minimum and would absolutely love to be in Edmonton.”

So predictable. Oilers are playing dooshbag Pokemon... gotta catch 'em all.

6. Good to see Seravalli stand up for second chances for players like DeAngelo. This is the age of cancellation and rapid, self-righteous and sometimes merciless judgement, often based on the barest of facts or corrosive misinformation. It’s also the case that the road to success isn’t paved by angels, nor by blustering armchair critics, but by individuals who know how to work with others and get the task at hand done well. If DeAngelo is such an individual, he should be welcome on the Oilers.

On Draisaitl remaining unsigned, Seravalli told me:
"It's unfair to categorize it as hitting a snag."
"On a money basis, AAV, I think these two sides are a little further apart than I envisioned."

I don’t know how Bowman thinks he can negotiate with Draisaitl’s camp. I bet his motivation for staying in Edmonton is razor thin. He’s produced well above his current contract so to ask him to take any kind of discount is laughable.

The panic is starting to set in on Oiler boards. It went from Drai re-signing the 1st day he could, to him taking a long-term hometown discount, to him taking a short-term deal to see if Connor stays, to exploring trade options and what disappointing returns they can expect.
They are going through it and I am here for it.

Technically, this would be D'Angelo's 4th or 5th chance (depending on how you see his second Carolina stint). I imagine NYR also gave him multiple chances.

I'm here for it.
I feel like Evander Kane, Darnell Nurse, Leon Draisaitl, Corey Perry, and Tony DeAngelo in the same locker room has amazing potential.

This is hilarious. "Barest of facts"? "Corrosive misinformation"? You're telling me that he bounced around the NHL, including 1 year stints in Carolina, Philly and Carolina again, because of misinformation? Amazing.

The panic will really set in once his camp says they’ll restart negotiations after the season because he doesn’t want any distractions - universal code for “I’m done.”

They're about to have a fan poll to heavily underestimate the amount that his contract comes in at, and overlook the high likelihood that he leaves.

Agreed, but what I really want to see is if this playoff penalty kill was for real, or an abhoration.
If they killed penalties at the same rate they were in the regular season, they wouldn't have been anywhere near the final.

"Barest of facts and corrosive misinformation" would be how I describe Staples entire career.
