Temperatures in the mid-30s all week this week in Toronto and up to 44 with the humidex. Going to be a hot one as the city announced heat warnings this morning all across the GTA.

That's nice but doesn't it smell like hot garbage in Toronto when it's hot and humid?

The place is a bit weird to get to, look for the "Shield Storage" lot, go in there, and follow the signs. They also have the adapter for garden hoses:

and they deliver if you don't have a truck.
I couldn't tell by the pic, but how far do you place them from your house? I'm curious whether there are concerns with the weight of these things when they fill up with water and start exceeding 1000 pounds (1000L is supposedly nearly 1000KG).

The first one is about 10 feet form the garage. I hastily built a base with 4x 24" concrete sidewalk blocks, but knowing my wall to the alley is not in great shape, didn't bother to baserock it in it properly as it was temporary.. it's sunk about 4" in one corner, not ideal. But a next year problem.

The other one is right next to my shed on an old concrete pad, I'm hoping it doesn't shift much. But ya, it is a lot of weight to consider.

Welp, now I don’t feel so bad about not watering. It was a lost cause anyway.

I wonder if the showers in the next few hours will help with that? Can't remember the last time I had to shroud the garden this late into June.

Can confirm, big snowflakes are coming down in the foothills. I had put my hanging flower baskets out to get some of the rain, but brought them under the porch now. Wtf, hope they didn’t get too much snow…haha.

Wondering if we have an update on the drought situation in Alberta for the farmers? Have had a lot of snow and rainfall in March/April/May and so far June.

From the June 11th Alberta Crop Report:

Despite the recent precipitation, surface soil moisture ratings in all regions of the province declined except for the Peace.
Provincial surface soil moisture good-to-excellent ratings are reported as 66 per cent, above the 5-year average of 59 per cent
and the 10-year average of 62 per cent. Regional surface soil moisture good-to-excellent ratings (change from last week) are
reported at 48 (-13) per cent in the South Region, 61 (-18) per cent for the Central Region, 89 (-4) per cent for the North East
Region, 80 (-2) per cent for the North West Region, and 79 (+10) per cent for the Peace Region.
